Could this be Ann (Quinn) death? The age is a bit out, but in 1870, on James' service record it does reference Ahmednuggur? which is where this Ann was buried:

I've searched the BNA, I can't see anything relating in the Glasgow Herald- I suspect it's the snippet re their golden wedding in 1940 that I posted on page 1- the wording is the same: 'James A. Dunne to Annie Butchart Present address 'Dunholme'

AustinQ...I found another Notice relative to their Marriage but I cannot access it have tried the link but its not showing (On GR Newspapers)..if you have News access can you see if you have more luck....

Think this is likely James' father. (Record on FMP)

He was discharged in 1878 and had served 17 years in East India.

He served with the 19th Hussars and was transferred in 1870 to the 3rd Hussars.

He enlisted in Dundee, his occupation then a weaver

EDIT: And just to confirm it is him- on discharge his intended place of residence was Blackness Road, Dundee (which fits the 1881 census)

Earlier I found n article re James Golden Wedding anniversary- I've just found another on his Diamond anniversary! in the Hartlepool Northern Daily Mail - Saturday 15 July 1950

It states James was born in Meerut, India and was the son of a Third Hussar. He went to Dundee when he was 11. Both he and Annie were devout Roman Catholics. There is also photo of James and Annie. I've sent a copy to Terence.

Yes you are correct AustinQ...these Quinn's have me crossed eyed !! Can you check the 1881 Census (I don't have access) and see where James Quinn son of James Quinn (27yrs) was born...Catherine aged 40 couldn't possibly be his mother.
Can you decifer the mmn of Mary on the Marriage of Anne and James Dunne...

Don't think they were Ann's parents on the 1881 that James Dunne was staying with- weren't they John and Mary? So possibly brother -in-law?
