In 1904 Willie is living at 18 Grey Street,Barrowford and in 1911 Census age 27 he is a visitor at 7 Grey Street, Barrowford ,the age would be correct.
I did search on FMP Soldiers Died In the Great War 1914-1918 and found the same entry as you but dismissed it as he said unmarried and I did not see who his parents were. I thought Private Willie Ashworth 8746 Kings Own Liverpool Reg 1st Battalion, born Barrowford, enlisted Warrington,Residence Nelson,Lancs was correct. He died 28 October 1914,France and Flanders. My father was told his father died in 1914 ?
The marriage cert I have is Jan 28th 1902. Willie Ashworth , age 18 ,Weaver of Willow St ,Barrowford, father George,Card Room Master, Lilian Horrocks age 18 a Weaver,14 Ormerod St,Father William Horrocks,Weaver. When I looked in the newspapers for Burnley Soldiers who died in WW1 I found a photo of Willie Ashworth 8226 I think he had died. Not sure what is right now.

Do you have the marriage certificate for William and Lilian??
Who does William say is his father on that certificate??
I'm puzzled by the fact that in 1904 when he joined the Militia, Willie Ashworth stated that he was Single, that he had NO children under the age of 14, and gave his parents and siblings as his NOK .............. a complete denial of the truth if he is the one who married Lilian.
There is also the fact that Willie, with father George and mother Kezia(h) always seems to use Willie, never William .......... even on his birth registration and baptism

Thank you Mary,
This may be William / Willie Ashworth. If he and Lilian were now separated and not yet divorced they would both be listed as married. He may have been in the Army part time and went to War in 1914 ? I was told if a man Joined The Colours he could still be working but was in the Army part time until a War I suppose and I think maybe this could be why Lilian gave birth to Stanley in Bishop Auckland as I was told there was a large Army place there ? They could have moved about not sure how long she was there. 1 Oxford Terrace is not there anymore.

Thank you Austin Q,time delay on reply I am in BC Canada.
This may have been my grandmother Lilian /Lily. Poor woman I wonder what happened to the child if she went to prison. This Lily Ashworth would have been in prison until March 1907 my Lilian had to be living with her husband Willie Ashworth by June 1907 as my father Stanley was born 7th May 1908
if this is my Lilian her going to prison could be why she is on her own and putting her children in the workhouse. I remember the workhouse admission register for Hackney it said she was abandoned but I thought it was because Ida Frances was not from her marriage and Willie had left her. So hard to piece together bits of info together but I can see all this may work.. My early research papers 1985 while living in London were lost in a house move so I am tracing a lot from memory and it is getting harder. Thank you everyone for your interest and help.

Burnley Express - Wednesday 17 October 1906
NELSON WEAVER STEALS PURSES Lily Ashworth (23) weaver of Nelson for stealing purses at Heysham, belonging to Leeds and East Lancashire visitors, was sentenced to four months imprisonment. ----------------------------------------
Burnley Express - Saturday 01 September 1906
NELSON YOUNG WOMAN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL
There was a painful scene at Lancaster yesterday morning, when Lily Ashworth a Nelson young woman with a baby in her arms was charged with stealing a purse..... When it came to taking her child from her the prisoner burst into tears. The court decided to leave the matter between the governor of the gaol and the relieving officer. --------------------------------------------------
Another article on the same subject states that Lily had been in custody at Heysham and said her husband was a soldier.

Willie Ashworth 28th October 1914 .Killed in Action. YPRES,Belgium. Name is on Mennin Gate Memorial.
That could be Ida just using her middle name of Frances. From the Burnley Library in the 80s I was told that from their records Ida Frances was fostered at age 5 to a family with a Grocers shop in Wigan. Just to confuse me even more my grandmother had another child , Alice Martins Ashworth, born 6th Feb 1912 at 12 Dickson St,Burnley Lilian was living at 14 Clough St,Burnley the home of a Thomas Martins and family. Alice was fostered as an infant I did trace her she had married a Hubert Clegg but died 4 years before i made contact but I have a cousin Heather who I have .met

I was not sure but I do have a birth cert for Ida Frances Ashworth, born at 170 Homerton High St,Hacney Middx. mother Lilian Ashworth formerly Horrocks of 25 Belgrave St,Nelson,Lancs.Reg 6th Jan 1910 I have have no idea why Lilian would be in Hackney unless visiting the two people she knew from her marriage.
Willie Ashworth was 18 when he marriedLilian his father was Goerge Ashworth born 1846 Blacko,Lancs, his mother was Kezia Doyle Everson born 1847 Bramley,Yorks. Did not find him in the 1911 Census but my father said he was told Willie died in Ww! I found a Willie Ashworth age 30 died October 28th 1914 Killed in action.I think this is him.

So what age was Willie on their marriage cert and who was his dad
Have you found him on the 1911 census
On the face of it they had separated which maybe was why the children were in the workhouse so Lilian could work
Would think that 1911 census is her but the info put in was by the head of family and they got the info wrong or she was asked how long were you together so she repled up to when they separated

On Dec 12th 1909 my aunt Ida Frances Ashworth was born in the Hackney workhouse London my father Stanley was there with his mother Lilian. Lilian was staying in Hackney with John Hanson and Edith Lister the two people who signed as a the Witness on her marriage certificate. Lilian must have moved back to Burnley soon after and when the children were put in the workhouse she puts their birthplace as Burnley ?

No idea why there. I found a marriiage of Willie Ashworth and Lilian Horrocks January 28 1902 St JohnsChurch,Great Marsden, Reg Dist,Burnley which I am sure is the correct one though it is not William Ashworth. Hope I am not following the wrong family,my father knew so little of his family he was in the workhouse until age 12.He did say his father died in W W !
