Just a matter of interest. One of my relatives died in Canada, but his will and probate were granted many. many years later in UK. I believe there was a bit of a squabble going on!
Just a thought so it could just be a case of trawling through a few years.
I also tried spelling of Hervey, Harvey although I thought it most unlikely, I did try but without luck.
Hope you can solve this.
Good luck.

As a small point of interest ........
..... Edith Mary Kennard who was granted the probate of Frederick's will, was Edith Mary Poland before her marriage, and the daughter of Albert Poland who owned/rented the house in 1901 where Eleanora and Frederick lived, and thus the granddaughter of Charles W Poland who owned rented the house where the Herveys lived in 1891

Where is Eleanora living in censuses??
Address
1851, 6 Consuela (???) Cresc, St Pancras, London (with son)
1861, Lodger, 28 Burlington St, Brighton, Occupation Fund Holder (with son)
1871, Lodger, 4 St Augustine's Rd, Ramsgate, Kent, Author in Poetry, Fiction, etc (with son)
1881, 12 Clarendon Place, Broadwater, Worthing, Sussex (with son) <<<< this seems to be a house shared with another family
1901, 10 Graswicke (??sp) Rd, Worthing, Sussex, Living on Own Means (with son) <<<< again in a shared house
Interestingly it seems that the prime tenant/owner of the house in 1901 was the son of the prime tenant/owner of the house where Eleanora was living in 1891 ........ and they were living 3 doors away at 4 Graswicke (??sp)
what this indicates to me is that Eleanora and son never owned or rented a house on their own after Thomas died, and that Eleanora was seemingly supporting her son.
Authors often did not make much money, so I wonder if they had spent all Thomas' inherited wealth and there was little left when he died.
Do you know if Eleanora was his first wife, or was Thomas married before? He was rather old for a first marriage.

Joonie .........
yes, I did read your post, and I did a quick search on 1859 without finding Thomas Kibble
but did wonder whether perhaps probate had been delayed for some reason

and if you are a direct descendant and the person who created the memorial page is not, you may ask to have it transferred to you
(whatever you do, don't ask for him to be classified as even a little bit 'famous' because then you lose management of the page to the site, which is now an Ancestry branch plant and about as easy to deal with as the management of this here site)
once you have management of a page, you can also have the random and often obnoxious images littering it, left by mad 'flowerers' who compete for the highest total, removed if you like
it can take some doing, as I have found when struck by two especially obnoxious ones (and vindictive - I and several other people had asked her nicely to remove her flowers from our family members' pages, and she responded to all of us by vandalizing every one of the family members' pages we manage with more of her marks) ... I've just had three more removed, all by the other of those women, who retaliated for a mere query about her connection with my dad and nan by dropping a third ... word that rhymes with third ... on my dad's gravestone after I had the others removed ... strange crowd of people at that place :-)
'Bernadette' manages 32,000 memorials so I doubt she is related
(although hm, now that I look at her virtual cemeteries, she has one devoted to Herveys, but almost all in the US)
given the message on her bio page, I doubt she is interested in transferring any of them ... but you can submit edits to correct misinformation
if she isn't a descendant and you are, but too distant, lie and say you're a great-granddaughter :-D http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=listFaqs#79

If he was 'wealthy', it seems strange there is no headstone or do you think it might have been removed? Might he have frittered it away to such an extent that the family couldn't afford one?
Findagrave transcribers take the dates from burial records or headstones - they type what they see, not what they 'know'. You could contact ' Bernadette' to ask if she has the original source material, and even to suggest that she adds additional info to her post giving the correct date of death

Have you tried this site ..............

He might just have been stupid enough not to leave a will, especially if he died suddenly.

son's death
Deaths Mar 1934 Hervey Frederic R J 88 Hendon 3a 514
not sure whether the link will work, but his probate is listed here
https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/Calendar?surname=hervey&yearOfDeath=1934&page=2#calendar
probate to Edith Mary Kennard wife of Richard Kennard £3553
but you likely have this if it is of interest, and it is decades after Thomas's death
by strange coincidence, an Eleanor Hervé died the same quarter as Eleanor Hervey ... her probate is shown, but none for your Eleanor

since Nicola has already said she has a library of information on the man, maybe we can all forgo the random record-posting?
Nicola, any chance his widow left a will? (did she die in 1903? if so, too long an interval to tell you anything I guess) (edit - I see malyon has posted that death now)
or that a child's will might be of interest, if one exists?
actually ... malyon, did you notice that the marriage you posted is not for the name in the opening post? and I followed that lead above ...
a mistranscription possibly but Nicola would know
edit - yes, he married Eleanora

Thank you Malyon.
I've discovered that Find a Grave has put the wrong death DAY and I have also put the wrong death MONTH. Oops.
He definitely died on 17th February 1859, as per the certified copy of the Death Certificate.
Sorry for my mistake. :-( :-(

We are lucky to have this man as our ancestor. He was a well-published Victorian romantic poet, critic, author, editor, publisher ........
We have nearly finished preparing his biography and we have a lot of his letters and other memorabilia to help us! The internet is also full of references to him. So we really don't wish any of you to go searching along those lines, thanks all the same!
This is our search:- what we cannot find is either his Will and/or Probate reference. He left a widow and a young son when he died. He came from a large wealthy family and it seems unlikely that he didn't leave a Will; he suffered from ill health in his last few years.
He died in London on 17th March 1859. He is buried in Highgate Cemetery in an unmarked grave.
Hope you can find his Will/Probate in some hidden corner, please.
:-)
