I just want to thank all of you that replied to my thread in particular Jude who pushed me to order the marriage certificate for Gwendoline Mary Thain and George Sims after I had been told no relation and today the certificate has arrived and Oh Yes She Is, so feeling quite excited, I must have known that I would be getting the right certificate as yesterday I spent a couple of hours tracing the family of the son David R Sims and found he had two sons Lionel (1947) and Andrew(1952) couldnt find a marriage for Lionel but one for Andrew with two children so it's onward and upwards from this so excited even is the two birth certificates that came at the same time are wrong ones, same family but not the ones I'm looking for again thanks ??

Well, it had to be the right one didn't it ?? - So pleased that you were able to confirm this.

It just goes to show that you cannot take other peoples' word on these matters!!

Makes you wonder what that 'relative' was trying to keep you away from ???

Glad to hear your news Pam. I felt a bit cheeky when I questioned you re. this not being the right person, but it turns out it was her after all. Good!
That's one of the benefits of this site, people look at things more objectively when it's someone's else's family.

Just to let you all know as you were all so kind in spending time helping me, yesterday I sent a letter to Mary Gwendoline's grandson I explained that it was just me doing my family tree and also enclosed a small family tree so it's just wait and see if he gets back to me, will let you know if I hear back from him ??

I hope that you do hear back from him Pam after all your efforts. Perhaps you will also find out why the other lady was so very unhelpful !

Just to let you all know after your amazing help, I heard from her grandson who has emailed me several times and yesterday I received photos from him of his grandmother one of them was with her sister the lady who tried to stop me searching, and we know why she tried to stop me it was because she had a daughter and kept her secret, quite by accident I found her and now we are all on a search for her or her descendants which I am hoping I will get some help on here with thanks again everyone ;-) <3 pam
