The link Maddie posted has an extensive story with the photograph...of which this is part
It is recorded that on Wednesday, May 17th, 1843, he got wet in returning from Whitson Church, where his clerical duties called him. He caught cold at St. Woolos Church on the following day attending the Visitation. On returning home he complained of illness. He was seized with a chill, followed by fever together with other alarming symptoms, and died on Wednesday morning, May 24th, leaving a devoted wife and six children.
So there are five children on the 1841 census and then there is Georgina and Alfred which suggests one had died?

Gosh, thanks so much for this information. My biggest mystery now is where the other children of James and Mary, now widowed, were in 1851. Alfred and Elizabeth were only about 11 and 12 then, but in those days they could have been working. Onwards and upwards! Thanks again.

Hello, I am trying to research the family of Albert Edward Francis (Born Newport Monmouth, Wales c1842, was also a Vicar at Barton on Irwell,Lancs) and his sister Georgianna Powell Francis Born Jan 1844. I believe their parents were Reverend James Francis who died at Newport in May1843 and Mary Francis. I believe Rev James Francis had six or seven children but I do not know the others. Albert Edward married Emily Beatrice Cannon. I would appreciate any information at all. Many thanks, Jenny
