Hi Gins - have a doubt about the 1842 as I do not have details of a George and the youngest child was born 1845 back in Benenden, Kent. Thanks anyway

It looks like they may have left in 1842, see above

Hi Margee - I certainly think you have the right William Jeffrey and on the census return. Now I will endeavour to find when they got there and from where !! Oh why can't they stay put - it would make it a lot easier for us !!!

Thank you both. That certainly looks like them. The birth years for William and Mary Ann were 1795 William and 1801 Mary Ann. The children were: William 1830, Mary Ann 1831, Jane 1833, Elizabeth 1836, Henry Thomas 1839, John 1844, Frances 1845. The child William 1830 would not have gone with them as he married in 1853 in Benenden, Kent. Thanks so much for trying to help me out.

What birth years do you have for the parents please

Margaret

Margaret Report 12 Sep 2015 14:41

a family arrived in Wisconsin ? I have a Jeffrey family, husband William and wife Mary Ann. They were still in England when their last child was born in 1845. They had a big family their births - all in Biddenden Kent - ranging from 1818 to 1845. However William and Mary Ann died in Waukesha County, Wisconsin in 1874 and 1893 respectively. So they must have gone sometime between 1845 and 1874 - a thirty year span. I have no idea which port they would have sailed from or how many of them actually went. I have not managed to find any lists of people emigrating to Wisconsin and would be grateful for any help/guidance as to how to track them. Thanks.
