Managed to get George Eliassen's parents marriage license.

That narrows down his birth a bit. Interesting to see George's dad is listed as a mariner and Elias his dad appears to have a different surname......both carpenters.......haha I wonder if they built any longboats :-)

I located the newspaper articles here for George Eliassen, still featured as lost in this paper-

Alas I telephoned the Hull Daily News and they said they didn't have the photo any more of George Eliassen.

Her only son at present is serving with West Yorkshire Regiment, and expected to go to the front at any time. She would be grateful if anybody would give her sufficient proof of person or persons circulating these unpleasant rumours. Her husband is and has been employed for the last nine years, by a local shipping firm, previous to this he was 21 years with Messrs. Wilson)

I imagine he put the Antrim address to make clear that he had Ulster roots and allegiance.

Eringobragh1916 how curious that my great grandfather Hugh would have signed this. He was a few generations Scottish by this point and shortly to be enlisted into the army.

The thing that struck me as odd was he put down his address as Ballymoney, County Antrim when he lived in Greenock. Was he putting down his ancestral address I wonder? I know his grandad Hugh was from there I believe.

Thank you for the signature though it may be as close as I come to seeing a photo of Hugh.

Another piece of info.relating to Hugh Frizzell....

Hugh signed the Ulster Covenant Sept 1912 at the Victoria Orange Hall Greenock..

You can see his signature by accessing Ulster Covenant on PRONI website...
Just enter his name nothing else......scroll down to the one with Greenock next to the name then open up folder ..He was a beautiful writer..!

Dear GlasgowLass, yes I discovered there was a lot of data that you found and lo behold I had saved it to my tree but had not got round to inputting the data. I think I shared my tree with you so you'll probably see that is the case :-) I am extremely grateful for your help.

Eringobragh1916, brilliant information thanks a lot! I've just added the little extra insights you mention to my tree.

Yesterday I ordered Great Grandad Hugh Frizzell's birth & death certificate. I already had his marriage license and a very kind gent has supplied me with his surviving WW1 war records which are fascinating. He served with the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders and was awarded two medals........to my complete surprise one of his medals had actually resurfaced about 10 years ago on a medal forum......so I pm'd the person only to discover he sold my great grandfather's medal on eBay. You never know it might resurface again.

I also sent an enquiry to the Argyll & Sutherland Regimental Museum because they can sometimes find stuff that others may not know.

The problem as i've explained to GlasgowLass I sometimes forget that when I research my Frizzell line is that the spelling for Frizzell can get quite whacky. The thought occurs to me as Hugh had so many children there must be some photos perhaps even of Hugh in his uniform? I wonder if Hugh was a kilted soldier??? I suspect he probably was although I think at some point he was posted out to Egypt so seems unlikely he'd be wearing an 8 yard wool black watch kilt in hot climes lol.

The following may clarify a couple of things for you although to be honest I have been crossed eyed trying to follow through your threads....These are relative to the Frizzel (Variations)..

If you go back to Page 4 of your thread (21-27August 2015) and the postings by GlasgowLass /ArgyllGran and yourself .....

The Marriage of Hugh Frizzell and Ann Wilson took place 3 August 1858 in Rasharkin Church of Ireland in the Parish of Rasharkin and Civil District of Ballymoney.

The place where the couple lived was KILRAGHTS
Hugh was the son of James Frizzell of Ballaghmore.

19 July 1859 a Margaret "Frizzle" married a William Anderson in the Ballymoney Register's Office...she was sister to Hugh.

Moving forward ...

James Frizzell (Greenock) died on the 1st Nov.1891 aged 32 at 88 Drumfrochar Rd.Greenock

Hessie died at Smithson the home of her brother George Brown Feb 1896.

Have found this relating to Hugh Frizzell husband to Christina..He was employed on the Railway and can only assume the Ref.is Greenock District.....So he needed to have come back from Canada before May1902
