(you need to search now with Army Number on Ancestry, Find My Past or Genes)
Also to look for his Birth...(see names on YorksBMD index link, going from 1901 posted earlier, then check for Deaths, might not be as 'George'). Then go to below, you can always 'play' with surname, or search el*

All part of research, takes time each family, lots to check, lots of places to search, never ends!...(steady and slow, as they say!)
(never forget the wonder of 'google' search...(brings below!)

I located the newspaper articles here for George Eliassen, still featured as lost in this paper-
Hull Daily Mail East Riding of Yorkshire, England 4 Feb 1919
No photos sadly but I see he got 3 medals which i can see from his medal roll.
Still no idea when he born???

Managed to get George Eliassen's parents marriage license.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/kornflakes77/1884%20Marriage%20Certificate%20Elias%20Eliasson%20amp%20Matilde%20Knudson_zpskegpge0m.jpg
That narrows down his birth a bit. Interesting to see George's dad is listed as a mariner and Elias his dad appears to have a different surname......both carpenters.......haha I wonder if they built any longboats :-)

(well they come up on above, have a look, you have the option to filter by Newspaper Title, Year, Month, Day range. Newspapers are such a valuable source to family history, for all sorts of reasons, well worth investing in. And there is probably more to be found if you spend the time, using different keywords for searching.
To be honest don't know how you would find anything on Genes version of them, can't see any options to filter, looks hard going!, also, don't think they are working properly, seems to throw 'no results' all the time, frustrating I'd say!, Very, lol)
