Find Ancestors

You see the info you provided greyhost should actually have been sufficient for the purchase of my grandad's birth certificate but some odd reason several certificates I ordered failed to materialise for reasons I can not fathom. Hence I have now had to write to the GRO and fingers crossed this time I will be successful.

Edit: You will note I attempted to order my grandfather's BC back of this thread on 15 Aug 2015 without success.

So the GRO sent my great grandmothers bc yesterday. Born the same year as her future husband Frank Henry Simms. Matilda Amanda Eliason was born if I can decipher the cursive script 10th November 1892, Lay Cottage, can't read the other cursive writing but could make out sub district of Myton in the County of Kingston upon Hull. Father listed as Elias Eliason (Merchant Seaman) and mother Matilda Eliason formerly Knudson?

Still no sign of my grandfather's bc...

If my grandfather's bc turns up Harry Leonard Simms I'll move on to his marriage license to Stella Hawkins (maiden name).

Thanks for all the useful info! I discovered I already have the marriage license of Amanda Matilda Elison and Frank Henry Simms (my great grandparents) and also their birth certificates!

My grandad Harry Leonard Simms is proving much harder, where records a bit more patchy in 1914 I wonder?

My next project is to locate my grandad Harry Leonard Simms & Stella Hawkins marriage license.

How would I find out if my Grandads Harry Leonard Simms or George Alexander Lever Frizzell had military records? They both would have been of age for service in WWII???

I'm assuming when you say you're looking for Harry & Leonard's [EDIT: I mean Stella's ! ] marriage license you mean marriage certificate??

1955 seems possible. So that would be Harry Leonard Simms and Stella Hawkins.

Or maybe not because Stella was previously married. I think her surname was Day?
