Wow what a wealth of information on William Henry Whitehouse & family. thank you all so much it is far more than I could possibly have hoped for. Where did you find the military details of William H Whitehouse Jacqueline? In answer to Gritty s question as to where at the time of her marriage Laura was living, it 10 Summerfield Crescent Birmingham. you also commented on the other Laura & George Pettifer they were my husbands Grandparents.

Interestingly George William Pettifer (Laura's brother?) married a Laura and lived at 288 ICKNIELD PORT ROAD (Rotton Park, Birmingham) for many years.

An Alma Whitehouse married a George W Wallace in 1949 Birmingham

It's a little strange as William Henry Whitehouse appears on the Birmingham Electoral register (and absent voters list) up to 1939 at 1 Beacon Buildings, Landsdowne Street- (his parent's address), but Laura is not listed there at any time.

I had found this birth on Ancestry but couldn't find the family on the 1911 census.

The witness may well have been ARTHUR

Her age was recorded as 23yrs (which more or less fits in with C11 aged 9yrs). her fathers name is correct George Pettifer plus engineer ( he was gas fitting engineer). he also was a witness along with an A.Whitehouse (don't now who that was) his father was Charles Whitehouse window cleaner although I've not managed to tie up any records of this family. he was also aged 23yrs. I've looked for Lauras death but not managed to tie that up either.

Are you going to share the details from the marriage certificate please? Laura's age? Her father's name and occupation? The names of the witnesses? Some or all of that information may help to identify the correct birth for Laura.

Laura's marriage certificate arrived today and confirmed that she married a William Henry Whitehouse in 1924. he was a soldier living Didcott Berks. this fits in with the three children that I found b. Wallingford Hant x2 + Wallingford Berks x1 to a Whitehouse/Pettifer. Just shows how records can throw you. Firstly no birth record found for Laura, secondly name appears as Lewis on C11 although states sex as Female! Still not managed to find her death though, unfortunately nobody else seems to be researching this line of the family. Well thanks again for all your help.

Thank you all yet again fro your efforts in helping me with Laura Whitehouse. I will await her marriage certificate and then update you. Nothing worse than an unsolved line, I shall have to keep digging until I have exhausted all possibilities
