Scottish records are held on Scotlandspeople which is a pay to view site.
Transcription of census to 1901 are on GR, Findmypast and Ancestry.

Familysearch do have some BMD as does Freereg. Both those sites are free.
Some cemetery records can be found on deceasedonline. You can search that for free, then purchase credits to see the full details.

Hello I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me please?

I am trying to find an Alexander brown born in Scotland about 1818 he married a lady called Elizabeth kinnear, and had a son called Alexander kinnear brown born abt 1850? In Dundee area of Scotland but I haven't a clue where or how to start looking for Scottish records.

If anyone can help me I would be very grateful
