Yes he is GlitterBaby - that's the point!
He always records his occupation as painter & decorator and so may have James Platt.

Have been reading this thread with interest.
Just my pennysworth - I wouldn't dismiss a house painter, my husband is a specialist painter and decorator and apart from the usual household stuff has often painted scenery for theatre and television companies. At the time of the Platts in question a scenic artist would paint backdrops in theatres and music hall but may also do house decorating to put food on the table.

Have to go to work in a bit, but will look again later.
Just looked at your original post- Was it James Platt that registered the death of Alice Platt?
You've said that James was living at 25 Dante Road- was this also where Alice died?
What address did Alice Maud give on her wedding certificate?

Good point Margee!! I am tired, so am very grateful for the correction :-D
But the witness is a connection of sorts- there are several families at 25 Dante Road, listed as seperate households, but I want to look more at these people in particular, who are also music hall artists (from 1911 census):
1911: 25 Dante Road, Newington Butts SE Alice Tyler Head 1865 46 Female Married 29 MUSIC HALL ARTIST KENTISH, Kent, England May Tyler Daughter 1891 20 Female Single MUSIC HALL ARTIST Manchester, Chester, England SE
married 29 years- 2 children- 2 still living (although this is crossed out and then put in again next to daughter, May) -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Alice Tyler is on Electoral register here until 1915, but not there after the war in 1921. Seems quite a coincidence that this Alice is a similar age to Alice Platt and that Alice Platt died at this address in 1916!

I don't think the music professor is the right family. I posted that when I was under the assumption that she was born 1886. (Rootgatherer led me astray)
Now that we know she was born 1895 that can't be her.

I'm wondering if the professor of music one is correct- i need to look into this further when I'm not as tired, but I'm putting this up now to refresh my memory in the morning :-)
This is the witness on Alice Maud's marriage- living at 23 DANTE ROAD in 1911:

Don't think the Walsall one is correct- this looks to be her in 1911:
1911 England, Wales & Scotland Census Transcription 48 Newland St Walsall, Walsall, Staffordshire, England Harry Platt Head Married Male 45 1866 Staffs Walsall Hard Solder Silver Plater Of Spiers Mary Ann Platt Wife Married Female 42 1869 Staffs Wolverhampton - Alice Maud Platt Daughter Single Female 16 1895 Staffs Walsall Tailoress Machnist Alfred Edward Platt Son - Male 13 1898 Staffs Walsall School And Grocers Errand Boy Henry Edmund Platt Son - Male 8 1903 Staffs Walsall School Elizabeth Platt Daughter - Female 4 1907 Staffs Walsall
I'll try and take another look at this tomorrow- I'm curious to know how you linked the death of Alice and the marriage of Alice Maud- is there other information that you know about this family?

Hi Margee.
Thats my Tree! lol
I agree a scenic artist is a long way from house painter but at the moment its the only albeit remotest connnection to ANYONE.
The Walsall Alice Maud is the only one in the likely date range so I am going to have to bite the bullet and buy the cert and hope her father is a scenic painter!!!

Gerry, a scenic artist is a lot different from a house painter.

Hi all. Thanks for your interest. As you can see I have nothing that I can make a defffo connection to. House painter is probe the nearest I have but its pretty tenuous.
The daughter Alice Maud was born about 1895, her age being 25 when she married.
The witnesses were Florence Anne Harman and H B Connock

I thought that maybe you were Margee but I don't want to mislead anyone.
I think we need Gerry to come back and give us a few more details about the family.
It would help if we knew when and where Alice Maud was born. Also, as Gritty has asked, the witnesses at her marriage.
