Sylviaincanada. Have looked for Sarah Medley/ Sarah Hazel and Leonard Hazel on GR. All came back nil. Have done the same on Ancestry. Nothing for the Sarah's but several for Leonard. Sent messages and only one answered who kindly opened his tree but the only information was Leonard's name. Can't think of any other avenues to explore. |

Am fairly certain that this is the same Sarah but just with the wrong birthdate. Liverpool record office did an extensive search of the Meadley family for me and found them in and out of the workhouse between 1902 and 1914 but Sarah was not mentioned after 1911 when her mother appeared in the infirmary and subsequently died there in 1912. Her sister Mary Ann Meadley was put in Fazakerley Cottage homes but Sarah does not appear in any of the records from there. After 1911 she simply vanished and I have nothing else to go on apart from the marriage to Leonard Hazel. Of course this may not be her which is why I was hoping someone in the Hazel family might have some information on the Sarah that Leonard married. Its the only marriage that sort of fits that I can find and there are no death records fo Sarah Meadley/Medley that match birth dates. On previous posts I have wondered if she was part of the child migration project but can't find her name in any of those records either. Ah well, won't give up just yet!! |

Thankyou everyone. Will get back to you when I have all the information to hand. Had hoped that someone from the Hazel family might have seen the post and been able to help but think I am being a bit unrealistic. |

I think, when you have access to them, you need to give us all the information from the birth certificate and the marriage certificate that you have. We may then be able to workout if they refer to the same person. It may also help if we have more information about your friends mother I.e. When and where she was born and the names of her parents and their marriage details. |

Yes. Will let you have that information when I have access to it. Incidentally Jax I tried to add the first post in this thread to one of the original threads I started about this family but it wouldn't accept it. That's why I started a new thread. |

Perhaps then better to wait until you are home with the information beside you to continue with this :-) |

Hi Rootgather. Unfortunately I can't tell you the name of the father as I am away at the moment and do not have access to the certificate. |

After this entry in the 1911 census all sign of Sarah Meadley disappears. I want to know if she and the one who married Leonard Hazel are one and the same. Several public member trees show the marriage between Leonard and his second wife but none mention his marriage to Sarah and yet they were married from 1929 -1966. I assume they were still married as she left him her estate in probate. |

Sarah was born in Liverpool in 1906. Her mother was Ann Meadley(nee Lloyd) but although she was married to Thomas Meadley he was not named on the birth certificate. On the. marriage certificate between Sarah and Léonard the father had a different name but it is possible that Sarah had contact with her real father who was not Thomas Meadley. That is the same Sarah who died in Durham in 1966. |
