Hi Prickley Holly, yes you have the right Ada Leather, she was half sister to my Granddad James Leather who was born in 1870 to Josephs Leathers first wife Catherine Smith, you have also provided me with info that i did not know, i did not realise that they had a daughter named Helena. My Great Grandad Joseph hung himself in Crumpsall union Hospital after the death of his 2nd wife Mary Ann at a young age, he had lost his first wife ( my Gt Grandmother ) when she was only 27, The two youngest children John and Elizabeth were put in the Workhouse but for some reason the Egerton family took Ada in, i do not know what happened to the two youngest, i.e. where they went from the Workhouse. and i was trying to find out more about Ada. Thank you so much for your help. |

The only way you will find out if it is your Ada is by buying the marriage cert: |

There's only one Stevens birth with mother's maiden name Leather on FreeBMD and that's in 1913, Runcorn. |

Someone on Ancestry has that marriage to Charles Stevens in 1912 but states her parents are John Leather and Ellen Vose. I don't see a certificate so can't confirm this. |
