It occurs to me that Baron's marriage to Jessie was in 1903 - ie - 8 years before 1911.
Perhaps he just transferred that year to his supposed marriage to Ethel.
EDIT: No, I'm wrong - B&J married in 1907 - see Diana's OP and Chris's post below.

As Baron/Edward's wife Jessie didn't die until 1907, and as the 1911 census claims that Edward & Ethel had been married for 8 years, either E&E weren't married, or were married bigamously (perhaps he could get away with it when using a different name??).
E&E may not even have been together for 8 years - maybe they just said that to look respectable, given Edna's age.

This could well be a red herring, but it's interesting (Actually, I think it's right!):
1911 England Census about Ethel Barry Name: Ethel Barry Age in 1911: 24 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1887 Relation to Head: Head Gender: Female Birth Place: London, United Kingdom Civil Parish: Paddington County/Island: London Country: England Street address: 93 Praed Street Marital Status: Married Years Married: 8 Estimated Marriage Year: 1903 Registration district: Paddington Registration District Number: 1 Sub-registration district: Paddington South ED, institution, or vessel: 12 Piece: 80 Household Members: Name Age Ethel Barry 24 Edna Barry 8 born East Ham, Essex <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Freda Barry 6 - born Manchester <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
On the line above Ethel's name, Edward Barry has been scored out. Age 34, no POB listed, occupation "Fil* Operator" . I can't make out the rest of the word starting with Fil. There seems to be a letter with a tail, but it may have been overwritten with "m".
I can't see any marriage between an Edward Barry and an Ethel , 1901-1905.
There are also no births to match the daughters' names/ages/POB's.
That household also contains a family of boarders, surname Buttery. Edward & Alice, with daughters Ethel and Elsie, all born Marylebone.

Baron Tanenberg was born in Leeds in 1877 - I have traced him to 1907, when his world changed. In 1901 he moved to Chorlton cum medlock and was a waterproof garment maker - where he lived with his aunt and uncle. On 11th October 1903 he and Jessie Maggs had their first child, Edna Alice May Tanenberg (I am still awaiting her birth certificate - as family say she was born in Chorlton but Freebdm records and Genes have her as Edna Alice May Tenenberg born in West Ham, Essex). Their second daughter Frederica Elsa was born in Chorlton Cum Medlock in 1905, her birth certificate showes Baron Tanenberg - a cinematographer - as her father and Jessie Tanenberg as her mother - although I have the marriage certificate for Baron Tanenberg and Jessie Maggs, which shows they were married in Chorlton in 1907 - and also the death certificate of Jessie who died on October 5th 1907 from TB, age 21. This death certificate gives Barons profession as cinematographer and he was present at the death, in their home 26 Braemar Road, Rusholme, South Manchester. I cannot find trace of Baron Tanenberg or his daughters in 1911. This daughter Frederica was sworn to secrecy by her sister, Edna, about a name change and difficult circumstances which they endured. Frederica only divulged this before her death in 2002. It is believed that Baron changed their name, as he was involved in the film industry in America. It is believed this is when their surname was changed to BARRIE, Aunt Freda said that he was also a survivor on the Lusitania - I have seen evidence that Edward Barrie was a survivor on the Lusitania and that he was "the best known man in the motion picture world", however she reports that after this incident he returned to Birmingham and they never saw him again (Encyclopedia Titanica - Lest we forget the Lusitania - and the passenger list published). I have seen a picture the family have of the SAAR CONCERT PARTY Imperial players under the management of Edward Barrie - excerpt from the Imperial Club Magazine Summer 1935. Edna (using the surname Barrie) first married in 1924 to John Clinton, whom died of TB a short time later - at the time of her marriage her address was 26 Warwick Road, Blackpool. On her marriage certificate - which I have seen - she gives her father as Edward Barrie, Deceased - maybe this is because she never saw him after the Lusitania. Edna married again in 1934 to Frederick Sylvester in Blackpool. Frederica (known as Freda Barrie, during her show career) married Francis G Roleston, 1934 in Blackpool - she also gives Edward Barrie as the father and his occupation as Film Director. It is believed that Edna and Frederica spent time in the Munition factories in Manchester or in a workhouse/orphanage - again I cannot find them in 1911 census. Both girls spent time in the Tiller Girls, and Freda continued with her professional dancing career often starring with Jimmy Clitheroe. Edna, once married gave up her acting career.
Edward Barrie was a partner of Edgar Hounsell, another film producer whom often travelled abroad. There is a question as to whether Baron Tanenberg joined the American Armed Forces at some point.
If anyone can point me in the right direction to track Baron Tanenberg or Edward Barrie it would be most appreciated. I guess the main question is - were Edna and Freda adopted by Edward or did Baron Tanenberg change his name. Thanks for reading this - I hope I have made the information I already have easy to follow, although the whole thing is quite complicated. Many thanks Barrie - Edna's son.
