It might be an idea to purchase a copy of Catherine's death cert.

Mary Ann might have been the informant and her surname will tell you if she was married at that time or not.

I have got a copy of Catherine's and Alfred's death certs but neither of them mention Mary's name.

It was my Aunt Florence who registered Grandma's death and Uncle John who registered Grandad's death both youngest of my aunt's and uncle's

There is no birth reg for a 'Mary Ann' - only this one in the right area??

Dea,

Sorry forgot to say she was born Titlow but grandparents only used it for the first year after she was born then they put Higginbottom down EXCEPT FOR THE 1901 for the censuses.

I have looked at Titlow marriages for Derbyshire and there are none.

My grandparents married in September 1887 and Mary was born February 1887

As a 'general servant' she could have moved to any part of the Country or even further !!

So, if she married it wouldn't necessarily have been in Derbyshire :-(

I expect you already have them but there are army service records for another child of Alfred and Catherine on Ancestry - 'Willis' c 1892 who was sadly killed in action in 1917. :-(

June 1934 to Frisby thats in Eccleshall as they lived down the road on 1 census.

Dec 1946 to Sharpe

Dea the birth you have above for Mary Ann Titlow is wrong.Mary was born 26th February 1887 and registered by her mother on 30 April 1887.

That is another branch of the family.

There are no deaths for either Mary A Titlow or Mary A Higginbottom in Derbyshire from 1911 to 1965.

And I honestly think that she wouldn't have moved away from Derbyshire until afer her parents were dead.

If the birth was registered on 30th April 1887 it would fall in the Jun q therefore the birth Dea found would be the correct one.

I have taken another chance and sent for the 1913 marriage to Sharpe.

Keeping my fingers crossed that this one maybe the right one,it's costing a fortune for Mary and the others have been right 1st time.
