Great findings - thank to everyone. Ellen Jane was the daughter of Frances Isabella Tillott and John Brooks. The Brooks family decamped from Norfolk to Glamorgan in Wales in the mid 1860's so it looks as though the Littlejohns followed them. Interesting - it's all starting to come together! |

Not sure if this is connected but thought I'd add it- seems a Littlejohn relative was searching for them: |

Sorry, the marriage I posted is from freebmds transcription of the GRO index. If you go to freebmd and search for the marriage, you can then bring up a scan of the page but that is all it is - no more details than I posted. You need to buy the cert to see all the info. |

Can't get "Potty's" scan of the marriage cert to come up. Parents of Ellen Frances Isabella and John Brooks according to our records. Does that match the record. Matthew's parents unverified - best bet John and Mary Ann Fulford. Various children also unverified except for Matthew and the eldest, William Henry. |

Ellen Jane Brooks who married Matthew Littlejohn was born a Tillott, and came from Norfolk. Matthew abandoned his wife and family around the turn of the century. Know v little about his family except they came from Devon we think (?Shebbear / Milton Daverel). Father John, mother Mary Ann née Fulford - probably. Any further info anyone?. Or anything else on any of his children? Leslie Littlejohn and the 2 youngest daughters were taken into a children's home. Leslie was killed in WW1 |

So the last reference we have for Matthew AND Ellen is the 1901 census. I wondered what happened for the girls to end up in the workhouse school? |

Rose, why would she marry as Brooks? Her father's name is Watts and on the marriage allegation for the marriage to Matthew she is shown as a spinster. |
