Just too confuse you even further, is there any significance that their son Alexander's twin was named Elizabeth Robinson Scott? |

Have checked out Kathleen Gill on ancestry and she is descended from Alexander Scott (1860) - has some posts on ancestry about him, but nothing conclusive. However she claims father Andrew was not dead by 1881 (when Mary was claiming to be a widow) - he was in the Sunderland workhouse and died in 1883. |

Sean, where did you find the baptisms? Are you aware that familysearch has images of these? It might be worth paging back through the images both churches to see if you can find the marriage - a long job though! |

Just wondering if this could be Mary Robinson's baptism - on the same day as Isabella's: |

Sean, there are quite a few births for the children of Isabella Robinson and Thomas Brown on familysearch. The youngest I could find was for Ann baptised 2nd Nov 1806 in Sunderland. fs gives DOB as 16 Oct 1806 but if you look at the link below, the image has 16 March 1906. She is shown as the 3rd daughter of Isabella and Thomas. I would have thought 3 children between 1805 and 1806 was possible! Where did you find Isabella & Thomas's marriage? Paging through the images on the link should find the other baptisms and possibly the marriage. |

I think you might have to go to the Archives or look for Non-Conformist records. There should be a film ref on the familysearch record so you could ask to see the film at your nearest Mormon family history centre. I have found the 1805 marriage and have been paging through to see if I can find any other children (baptisms or deaths). No luck so far. There does seem to be a big gap between the children - 1813 to 1822, with the last baptism being for 1828. |

Although the children were baptised in an Independent church, legal marriage at that time could only take place in C of E churches. If Mary is Isabella's sister, she would probably have married in the same church. Mary Ann was born in 1822, so we are looking for a marriage 1820is - unfortunately there is a gap in the fs images between 1820 and 1830. Durham Archives may have the original parish records (the ones on fs are Bishops Transcripts). |

Just a thought - if they married by licence and not by Banns, they might be in these images - but there are an awful lot to page through: |
