According to an extensive tree at Ancestry, this is his fathers death.

The certificate will give you the informant which may be his son

Hi I know I have marked this answered (unsure if I can change this status) but is anyone free to see if they can find Elizabeth Drew nee Hanks on the 1841 census seeing as she didn't pass away until 1850. Believe she would be living in Berkshire still and probably in Abingdon. She was born 1784 in South Hinksey, Berkshire.
Also as her husband Richard didn't pass away until late 1841 he may be there also
Many thanks

Sorry - can't see any sign of them on 1841.

possible child still living at home is Martha Drew born 1821 Abingdon, Berkshire. On some reports the name is also spelt Drewe :-)

Thank you everso. I take it this address was a workhouse, poor lady. Is it possible to trace Martha Drew/e 1821 and what looks like her child in any further census reports?
:-)

I can't see Martha on 1851 but this 'may' be her?

I don't think the 1841 is for the workhouse - on the image there are the usual diagonal lines indicating families and the double lines indication houses. If this page was for a workhouse, I would expect all the men to be listed together and the same for the women and children.

Dea Report 25 Jul 2014 16:28

I agree Potty - I think the address was just an ordinary dwelling.

Thank u both. The address stated on the above census is Boar Street, St Helen, Abingdon. Boar Street changed name to Bath Street and this leads onto to Ock Street when many of he Drew family lived so it would make sense Elizabeth and Martha were living there. Also Abingdon workhouse was on Oxford Road so agree that they weren't living in the workhouse :-)

Richard Drew (father) should be on the 1841 too, his birth was registered in the Sept Q

Can't see him though?

Solar

Solar Report 25 Jul 2014 17:30
