Yes Astra - Mary and baby Richard did travel together as Richard had already gone ahead but like you I have failed to find evidence of this. Richard's elder brothers Joseph (and wife Mabel) also went to Australia but I have this information and Norman and wife & child also went (child born ik 1933) and I have failed to find his immigrant information too. I do wonder whether the immigration records online are actually complete. Thank you so much for trying. Richard's whereabouts in 1911 are still a mystery and I have spent ages this afternoon trying anything and everything I can think of to find him. He married his wife in 1917 and in 1911 she lived in Netherton (near Bedlington) so I imagine he lived locally for them to meet. |

BeverleyW - yes that is him in the orphanage but he really was born in Newcastle as were the rest of his family. Thank you for trying. It is so frustrating when you know fine well he is around somewhere in the Bedlington/Netherton/Choppington area. I am beginning to wonder if he has been missed off. |

locate Richard Wingrove Corby on 1911 census. In 1901 he was in an orphanage as parents had died. He was born 1889 Newcastle on Tyne. I have tried just Richard without the middle name, Richard with the middle name as well, I have tried Corby, Corbie, Carby. I know he remained in the Northumberland area. He was a miner and I expect him to be a 'boarder' in someone else's house as in no way would he have been able to afford housing of his own. His elder brother was a boarder with a family in 1911 but Richard is not with him.. Richard married in 1917, the marriage regd. Morpeth reg district. I expected to find him in the Annitsford, Choppington, Bedlington area but no luck. Could anyone spare the time to have a quick look to see if I am missing him? Thanks. |
