hi can anyone give me any ideas how to find anything about albert buckley,born 1878 in salford and went to war in ww1 anf joined the royalscots reg known as the manchester scots...have looked on this web site but cant find anything...not sure if he was living in salford or hulme at the time...he did come back from the war...many thanks if you can help x margaret |

thank you everyone i wasnt ignoring you,for some reason i had great difficulty getting your messages...i was just starting to panic when i managed to get back onto my messages from you all.....YES this is him...so now i have at least an army number and may be i can trace where he fought in ww1 |

There were about 50 Albert Buckley's that served in ww1... That was the only one I saw that mentioned Scots if that was his regiment ? |

Don't know if this is 'your man' but I found this from the National Roll of the Great War. - I don't know much about the Regiments but perhaps someone could check? |

There ARE a lot of Albert Buckleys in WW1. The only medal card I could see for the Royal Scots was the one Jax and Chris posted. That man can be eliminated as he died and Margaret Elizabeth says her man came back from the war. |

hi everyone,thanks for all your help again......no it wasnt my albert buckley that died in france..thats the trouble buckley is a common name. the family on the census are correct and jackson place was one of his addresses.i am going to check on the address in hulme off dea and see what i can find there..this man is my grandad and i do know he didnt die until 1936. that family seemed to move around quite a bit though ha ha ha . |

The Roll of Honour was put together in 1920 so it looks as though that one probably is not yours, unless they moved on from Francis Street earlier in the year? |

thanks dea...but i have a feeling they stayed at francis st then moved around 1930 when they pulled down the houses.....thanks for all your help...and everyone else..but i think this may be a tough on because of the name...the only thing i do know is that my mum said her dad was in the scots reg and wore a glengarry..yhey would have been living in manchester so i think they nicknamed them the manchester scots reg...anyway i shall keep on trying xxxx |
