I just found a tree on Ancestry that has details of the Grainger/Cox family. They married in 1946 but began having children in 1934 |

Chris, I appear to have posted on there last year-yes that was me. At that time I hadn't ordered the certificate. |

The marriage certificate was ordered via the GRO. Doesn't give a dob. Just says 1904. Doesn't give a place of birth, but I remember seeing something at West Sussex records office saying Southampton birth. Father on certificate was Henry Cox, basket weaver. Doesn't give a mothers name. I did, however then decide to contact the Southampton archives who provided a date of birth, a baptism date and a potential mother, Louisa. They are just guesses on my ancestry tree. Would love to be able to confirm everything, but with nothing much on the marriage certificate it's not helpful. It is possible that he remarried, which is why I'm hoping there is someone on here that is descended from him through another marriage, as my great nan only had one child. |

You could do with getting the actual marriage certificate, rather than just the bmd index to see who his father was and what his age was - that way we may be able to confirm the correct birth. |

Am looking for more on Francis Albert Cox. He was my great grandad. He was born in 1904 possibly in Southampton and married my great nan, Annie Ainger, in around 1931 in West Sussex (have been unable to find the church as the certificate just says Westhampnett district). My great nan and my nan (Babara Eileen Vivien Cox) died around 1992, within a very short time of each other. We know he carried on working in Chichester at the bus station, but he supposedly ran off with another woman. Would love to know where he went, whether he had any other children, got remarried etc as have been unable to find a divorce record etc. |
