Ok I made a mistake, his middle name is Ernest NOT Edward. I've changed it at the top too.

Yes, Beejay he is the son of Charles and Rebecca.

I have three notions here, (maybe right maybe wrong) Tea planter in India 1901 - '21, married in 1923 and introduced strawberries to South Africa (wow)

Another long shot!

I know this isn't in the required time slot 1901 - 25, but here's one with a wife Elsie (I take it you don't know his wife's name, other than "E" in 1925?)

A long shot. [EDIT: No, I see you've changed his name from Edward to Ernest in your opening post, and have accepted the Witney birth posted by Beejay.]

Could this be him returning from an earlier stint in S Africa?
This one's a bricklayer.
It doesn't say if he was married or not.

Hello RMS

Am I right in thinking members of your family were Wesleyan (I helped you once before I think). If so could this be your man with a name change

Arthur Ernest Davis born 28 Feb 1880 son of Charles & Rebekah of Witney
Christened 4 May 1880 at Witney Wesleyan

I haven't looked any further in case I'm barking up the wrong tree

Glad to hear your Dad rallied. Long may he stay in remission.

we're doing OK ................ although the first months of this year have been horrendous

OH's sister died of cancer in mid-January, same day my daughter stabbed herself, 1 week later I heard an English friend had died, 1 month later a close friend died of cancer, and a couple of weeks after that another very close friend died very suddenly

We were reeling ........... daughter recovered but it turned out there were marital problems, and they are going through counselling.

I don't think we have ever had such a tumultous time ................ we had to fly north in mid-January for 3 days, then 1 day later over to the Maritimes for 8 or 9 days

Fingers crossed it's easing up now.

Yeah well the Davis family definitely follow their own set of rules.

I'm good - now. Dad did try and die on us later year :-( but he is fine now, he's in remission so he just has to stay that way.

How are you?
