Thank you Jax. No, it is in All Saints Sedgley - the records are held at Dudley Register Office.

Thank you also Graham!

The 1839 marriage looks like it could be a register office wedding so wouldn't be in the parish registers

from Freebmd

Thank you but I'm also looking for the date from the 1839 one.

And a date for both would mean I could order them from the record office itself, saving a bit of money.

There will not be a certificate for that marriage, it was before civil registration

Peter

Peter Report 5 Apr 2014 01:26

And now found this:

Sarah Heathcock

England Marriages, 1538–1973

marriage: 1830 St. Martin, Tipton, Stafford, England

spouse: Samuel Milward

Any way of getting a specific date for this and the other marriage? Other than buying the certificate from the GRO?

Peter

Peter Report 5 Apr 2014 01:06

Thank you Mary! Good to rule that one out although would need more checking.

And thanks also safc ... not sure why that wasn't on FreeBMD but thank you!

Sarah Heathcock born 1820 to Elijah 1791-1866 a nail maker and Martha Gardiner 1791-1855.
Sarah married 1844 to Benjamin Millard born 1818 to John.

Sarah had sister Mary 1824 who married Henry Bashford on the same day??

This info is off a tree on Ancestry.co.uk so please check.

Hmmmmm now found this:

Sarah Heathcock

England Marriages, 1538–1973

marriage: 1844 Clent, Worcester, England

father: Elijah Heathcock
spouse: Benjamin Millard
other: John Millard

BUT that can't be the same women - Sarah is already 'married' to Edward Hollies by 1841.

And if this line going correct her father should be William Heathcock - any further advice how to confirm this?

Peter

Peter Report 4 Apr 2014 16:14

I got the certificate .. it says:

24 May 1850 - Queens Cross, Dudley
Hannah
Girl
Edward HOLLIES
Sarah HOLLIES later MILLARD formerly HEATHCOCK
Miner

The father registered the birth.

Thank you for that!

Now to look for the marriages.

Browsing another site and found this tip regarding familysearch - not sure how accurate it is
.........
you can check on familysearch website - if they have the record on their website, you may use their request form to obtain a copy of the records they hold for that entry - this is free of charge and you may request up to 4 records per month - the documents are then sent to you via email

Finding the original registers for this area can be a right pain. I've looked at Staffs RO, Worcester RO, Dudley Archives and Sandwell RO. All the areas overlap and the county boundaries between Worcester and Stafford moved over time. Also the Non Conformist registers are mainly at Sandwell, Arghhhhh.

Ah I see. I will need to see the marriage, as Samuel is related almost certainly, being one of two cousins ... question is, which one?!

Thank you.

It seems rather a large number of films!

As a guess, some might be Banns, at least one the Bishop Transcripts and another the actual register.

If you did want to order them to view, the numbers would be a starting point

Peter

Peter Report 23 Mar 2014 20:53

Thank you again Detective - out of interest though, why are the FHL film numbers important?
