Thanks for mgnv for supplying Directory info and to Gins - Robert Edward MORTON d. A April 1891 and is in the Glenwood Cemetery in Flint, Genesse MI. Found him there yesterday on FindaGrave: Morton, Robert E 119706229 b. Jun. 2, 1850 d. Oct. 7, 1891 Glenwood Cemetery Flint Genesee County Michigan, USA
and his wife Sarah Jane MORTON is in the same cemetery.
Why a name change from Herbert Adam MORTON to Adam Dyson MORTON? Would his (1891) death cert. give his date of birth rather than just his age? Curious as I cannot locate his death Herbert's cert. or any other info on him.
Adam Dyson MORTON youngest sibling, Joy Fay MORTON was just 4 years of age when her mother died and 6 when he father died and is enumerated with her Uncle back in Brampton in the 1891 census.
Would there have been a naturalization cert. issued? Canada / America and then America / Canada??
still looking for a living relative.....

I agree with Gins that Herbert Adam became Adam Dyson. One wonders why and where did the name Dyson come from?

Herbert and Adam are the one and same person!

Name: Adam Dyson Morton Mother: Sarah Morton Father: Robert Morton Birth: abt 1875 - Ontario <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<DOB 10 May 1874 Death: 30 Mar 1938 - York, Ontario, Canada
I have been looking at this for a possible death for Robert E Morton?
Can't see this person on any records in the area of MI, thinking the R has been mistranscribed to an 'L'
Maybe the informant entered the wrong details (in respect of his marital status) at the registration of his death?

OK - it's a new day in South OZ - Tuesday. After spending many hours I've been unable to locate a birth entry for Adam Dyson MORTON. He is with his parents on the 1880 census: Adam D. Morton Son United States Census, 1880 birth: 1874 Canada residence: 1880 Flint, Genesee, Michigan, United States
His marr. entry: Name Adam Dyson Morton Event Type Marriage Event Date 28 Apr 1903 Event Place Brampton, Peel, Ontario, Canada Age 28
and his Death Cert has: Name: Adam Dyson Morton Death Date: 30 Mar 1938 Death County or District: York Age: 63 Gender: Male Estimated Birth Year: abt 1875
We have proven that Herbert Adam MORTON was b. 10 May 1874 Adam Dyson MORTON was b. between May 1874 & when brother Charles Joe Forese MORTON on 1 Nov 1876 all . Brampton ONT CAN
So we have a window of between Feb 1875 & Feb 1876.
Adam Dyson MORTON was living in Michigan until his father (Robert Edward MORTON) died in 1891 when he returned to Brampton CAN and lived briefly with his Uncle (James Alexander MORTON). Would he have been on the USA SSI (Social Security Index)? If so, are we able to access it and what info would it give re birthdate?
Clutching at straws - and still looking for a living relative.....

Is this a set of twins born to your Robert? There's a death registration in Brampton for Emma Marton died 16 April 1872, died same day as born and George Dunn Marton died 23 April 1872, aged 7 days. Father was Robert Marton for both.
Edit: Ignore this, Glenys, see Gins' post.

Hi mgnv, many thanks. If you look at my last post - it shows the births of 2 babies (Herbert Adam & Adam Dyson), born same day - twins. I suspect that one died shortly after birth. Thanks for looking for my MORTON's whose surname is spelled as MARTON on quite a few certs.
They also have twin cousins - Morton Woods MORTON and John G. W. MORTON born 12 Nov 1882 Wingham, Huron, ONT CAN. Cannot find any more on this John but wonder if he died 1923 in Nova Scotia. Am looking into it.

Again Margee, thanks.
Herbert Adam & Adam Dyson MORTON are twins (well at least they are born on the same day :-D) and as they both have Adam in their names maybe one died at birth, I guess only their birth certs will identify that.
Now I have these brothers, the issue of James Alexander MORTON & Jessie Helena (nee WOODS) MORTON: Morton Woods MORTON b. 12 Nov 1882 Wingham, Huron, ONT CAN d. 4 Jun 1939 Vancouver, British Columbia, CAN a bank manager m. Lula Maude HARDY m. 27 Nov 1909 British Columbia, CAN b. c1885 Patterson, ONT CAN d. 29 Jan 1960 Vancouver CAN [daughter of Henry Romaine HARDY and Emma Calista O'CARR]
John G.W. MORTON b. 12 Nov 1882 Wingham, Huron, ONT CAN
I cannot locate any issue for Morton (Mort.) MORTON & his wife Helena so we have another line completed.
Also cannot locate any further info on John G.W. MORTON b. 12 Nov 1882 at Wingham.
Must be your bedtime by now.

I don't think Morton had any kids. You could go thru the city directory, and see if any pop up: http://www.vpl.ca/bccd/index.php
Right now, for free 1921 image, search at http://search.ancestry.ca/search/db.aspx?dbid=8991 1921 Census of Canada Province or Territory: Ontario District: Hamilton West District Number: 88 Sub-District: Ward No 3 Sub-District Number: 10 City, Town or Village: Hamilton Street or Township: 86 Heckriver St Municipality: Ward 3

http://search-collections.royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/KeywordGenealogy has Lula's m.cert & d.cert online (and free) - the other BC certs are not digitized yet - periodically rechecck if you don't have them.
BC births are closed for the shorter of post-1903/120 years. I note that Lula's d.cert informant isn't any off-spring, but her executors.
Re your OP: 3 Morton Woods MORTON b. 12 Nov 1882 Wingham, Huron, ONT CAN 3 John G.W. MORTON b. 12 Nov 1882 Wingham, Huron, ONT CAN
I don't think Morton had a twin bro - I think they're the same guy. Note there's only one of them on 1891 and on 1901.
I can't find Morton in 1911 - I think they should be in District 12 (Vancouver) Subdistrict 76 http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/index.jsp images: http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1911/pdf/e001942808.pdf thru http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1911/pdf/e001942864.pdf This enumeration seems quite disorganized - I didn't find anyone living at 1070 Haro. I now think he might be listed as 21 Merrill, but I couldn't face going thru it again. [In 1910 Morten M W is acct Bank of Hamilton, lvs 21 Merrill Mansions. The street index part shows this is an apt bldg at 1070 Haro, just W of Burrard (so right downtown), on the SE corner with Thurlow)

Thanks Margee - I did not have 1921 census (which perpetuates the mis-spelling of our surname), now I also have his occupation. It appears that there were no children to the marriage of Adam Dyson MORTON & Jessie Lye nee WOODS.
Yes, Emma WOODS is mother-in-law to Adam Dyson MORTON.
Adam Dyson MORTON had 3 siblings - Charles died as an infant; Herbert Adam MORTON b.10 May 1874 in Brampton I have not found anywhere else and Joy Fay MORTON b.17 Feb 1885 in Flint, Genesee, MI USA passed 28 Sep 1936 in Toronto, CAN seemingly unmarried. Her name has been recorded as Ica Fay, Ivy Fay, Icy Fay and when I found her death as Joy Fay (all MORTON).
So, unless I can find Herbert Adam MORTON survived infancy and married this line will come to a dead end and I'll have to move on to Uncle James Alexander MORTON for descendants.

And Robert MORTON's death has been found - 7 Oct 1891 in Flint, Genesee, MI USA with their burials in the Glenwood cemetery in Flint. Still not sure if they share a grave with 2 tombstones or are in separate graves.
Robert & Sarah MORTON's children were very young to have lost both parents, they returned to Canada to live with Uncle James, their father's brother and his family.
Still searching for a living relative.
