My search for Henry Lee

If the records of the East India Railway Company are eccurate, then my grandfather Henry Lee was born in the UK within two weeks of New Years Day 1841. His Father's name was George Henry Lee and born somewhere in the British Isles including Ireland. However I have found no matching record of birth registration and, so far no record of baptism. Has anyone found a relative by the name of Lee (or sounds like Lee) that fits that information? I would be so excited to hear from them. Patrick Lee |

It may well be his birth wasn't registered .there were no penalties for non registration till 1875 and many births before then just didn't get reg. |

Sorry.....but are you sure the man born in 1840 was your grandfather? Shouldn't there be at least one 'great' in there? |

Yes, it is just about possible.......but unlikely, I'd have thought. Still, one never knows! |

Patrick, do you have a tree on ancestry - there is one with extensive information on the family, assuming Jude's marriage is correct, although the wife's name was Hiripsima Mack, a widow. |

Flip several spellings of her name on Familysearch! As you say, quite a few trees which will help with descendants. However there are some extremely dodgy assumptions made on a couple of saved censuses! |

Yes one has him born Lancashire (from 1861 census) when he was likely to be in India if the Henry I have posted is correct with all the children.... |

Jude I'm pretty sure that marriage is correct as it links through. |

Could do with a little more information from Patrick, regarding the railway records he has checked. I'm assuming he means Henry was born in January 1841, making him 5 months old for the 1841 census taken on 6 June. |

The marriage suggests he was born (probably) the two weeks BEFORE New Year's Day 1841 although Patrick's OP leads one to January 1841... |

The tree on Ancestry has the same marriage as Jude found and says that Henry and Hiripsima had several children including Percy Herbert 1874 -1940. |
