Please could I have the other pages of my grandfathers records if anyone can message them to me

I managed to download them it is quite easy isn't it lol

Sorry if l don't keep up with posts life is overly hectic at the moment and my health isn't too good.

My mum and older brother also spoke of (Frank) Francis when I was younger.
Apparently he visited our home until we moved when I was a baby in the 50s.

I can't thank all of you enough for the excitement you have given me during these posts.
I feel as if part of the brick wall has come tumbling down with my grandfathers army records.

Heyjude.

Yes that's her.

I'm wondering if the elusive uncle frank (relative of my dad) was actually his mums brother and not my dad's brother

I had a thought that maybe he could have had learning difficulties or something and my grandparents took him in!

actually there are three entries that would fit for Francis McGuire between 1878 and 1887!! But I think your are probably correct about the baptism of Francis Logan

Got to go out now!

Flip I did wonder about the death for Francis - for two reasons...the age thing and also because Pam's father had memories of him....that's why I said "might" be him!

Pam, downloading attachments from your GR inbox is easy. At the bottom of the message it will say Get Attachments. Click on this and it brings up the attachments. Click on each and it will download to your computer then you can open and save where you want.

Jude, that catholic burial linked to the death reg for Francis gives an age of 2 yr 10 months at date of burial of 8/9/08, however the image states 22 months (so another mistranscription). This would indicate a birth Nov.06

But the Francis that Pam is looking for was baptised and recorded as born Sept.06 so possibly not the same one?

The godparents for Francis were Francis & Maria McGuire - is Francis a brother of Mary Catherine?

Flip

Flip Report 12 Oct 2013 02:40

GB, if you've downloaded those records, there are a couple of pages back from the opening link which refer to him.

He had a right side hernia, done lifting timber in 1910 - also was pretty deaf due to measles as an infant. There was also an operation scar for a left side hernia.

Where it asks for childrens names it just says 2 - so wonder does this mean there were still 2 children alive in 1917?

In case you want to check the Irish census. Plenty of hits for John Logan but none for Peter or Mary

Ancestry has WW1 service records, pensions records and medal cards

Ah thanks Tenerife sun.

They really are frustrating. If they weren't my grandparents I'd begin to think they were a figment of my imagination.

Checked all houses in Gomer Street no luck with the Logans

Pam

Pam Report 11 Oct 2013 18:36

Hi heyjude

I was hoping the boys had not died as there is a frank that my mother spoke of and my brother remembered visiting us til the 1950s when we moved.

Their mother Mary Catherine Logan's father was born Cavan but had died by the time my dad was born.
I think he died before my grandparents marriage in 1901

Their father John's 2xs great grandparents came over from Ireland I don't know if they had contact with relatives from either side over there.

I know my dad visited his mother and maybe other relatives in the 1950s and maybe the 1960s.

Dad joined the army as a boy soldier. I imagine that's why the two Logan cousins I have found don't know anything of the family
Plus my dad was brought up catholic (his mothers religion)
His fathers side were all in the orange lodge.

What are the WW Pension records? Are they war pension records?
I know nothing of my grandfather so any little tidbits on him would be a great discovery too

HeyJudeB4Beatles

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 11 Oct 2013 17:49

I think this is Thomas
Deaths Jun 1903 (>99%)
Logan Thomas 0 Liverpool 8b 99

I think this is Daniel
Deaths Jun 1905 (>99%)
Logan Daniel 0 Liverpool 8b 31

And this could be Francis
Deaths Sep 1908 (>99%)
Logan Francis 1 W. Derby 8b 394
There is a Catholic burial for this one

I found WW! pension records which are definitely them. Living at Gomer Street. Annoyingly, there is nothing regarding dependants.

I still think they might have gone to Ireland - did either have Irish ancestors? (Good Irish names)

Hi Glitterbaby.

I've searched and searched till I'm cross eyed.

I'm beginning to think rootgather could be right they just didn't fill out the form.

I'm still checking the deaths for the Logan brothers Francis. Thomas and Daniel.
So far I haven't found any so they could have lived on to adulthood unlike a younger brother and sister to my dad. Michael and Mary Frances.

Thanks everyone for your help and input. I appreciate the time and effort you have put in.

Checked the 1911 for Peover Street Liverpool and there's no sign of them but I don't think all the houses are listed.
