Can you post the details of the 1901 census as I can't find it?

Agreed but that appears to be Ellen Day - and have drawn a complete blank on her too :-( possibly giving a false name?

Maddie

Yes we are confident about that death record.

Correct

Trying to track Edward an Ellen prior to this date has drawn a blank - certainly no marriage in the previous 10 years.

All that I have found is an Edward and Ellen in the 1901 Census in ST PANCRAS with 3 other children all who are either dead or in a workhouse in 1911 with no sign of the parents OTHER than a possible move to Derby whey they could be the family you have referred to.

Mildred's birth cert will give you her mother's maiden name, help find their marriage:

I am trying to track my wife's ancestors and have hit a brick wall.

I have found her grandmother Mildred Cushing in Derby with her parents Edward and Ellen Cushing in the 1911 census but am unable to track her parents before that date through the census in Derby.

However, in 1901 I have found an Edward and Ellen Cushing in ST PANCRAS with 3 children.

In the 1911 Census, 2 of those children are in a workhouse in islington whilst the 3rd has died. The parents are not present with no record of them dying.

The possibility exists that the parents could have moved to Derby and started a new life?

does anyone have access to Islington Workhouse records to see if there are any references to the parents? or any other suggestion

Dave
