I keep looking at this Edward Cushing. He has the same occupation as Edward in St Alkmund in 1911 and he has a sibling named Mildred. Can't see anything for him in 1891 or 1901. |

Sorry, David, I still can't find anything! I found an Ellen Day, POB St Alkmunds, Derby, but she seems to have married a Whitehurst and is with him on the 1911. |

According to the tree on Ancestry, that Edward was in the Royal Artillery and was at Sheerness Barracks in 1891: |

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, as I'm not sure I have read all the above correctly having just come across this thread, but have you dismissed this man as the father of Edward John, Thomas & David? |

This is all looking very possible and clearly I need to do more digging. Thank you to all for your help |

There is a discrepancy on Ellens age. In 1911 she is 8 years younger than Edward but in 1901 only 1 year younger |

Ellen Day appears to be the maiden name of Albert E T Cushing in 1912 but I can find no trace of her marriage. |

David, you should be able to view the tree mentioned on Ancestry on the Mundia site: |

David, do you have the birth cert of any of the older children, to confirm the mother's maiden name. |

the 1906 death |

Potty | Report | 5 Oct 2013 15:15 |
If that Ellen died in 1906, it would explain the children being in the workhouse but the tree on Ancestry has Edward snr dying in 1941 in kent |
