In my grandparents family there were 3 Johns, father known as John, son known as Jack (but registered as John) and very early in their marriage my grandparents took in my grandmother's brother John Robert when his mother died when he was very young. He ended up known as Bob, but was brought up as a sibling rather than an uncle to my mum & her brother - he was only a couple of years older than them. |

Jack is definitely a nickname for John but if your grandfather is John how could he have a brother John? Are you sure your dad isn't thinking of an uncle Jack on his mother's side? |

Thanks for all your help with Jack Mardlin and Frances Mardlin. Jack names has not been mentioned unless this was short for another name?. I know Jack exsists because my father Lionel Mardlin b1928 Jack is his Uncle because my Grandfather is John Henry Mardlin b1894 |

So WHERE did yesterday's thread about this family disappear to? It was DELETED, with no acknowledgement of the information found for Frances Mardlin and Sydney Robert Joseph Burrowes - or the fact that all the ancestry trees have the wrong death for him |

This is them in 1911. To find their later children use Free BMD and use Theaker as the surname and Mardlin as the Mother's name. Enter 1911 as the From date. |

What research have you done? Have you found any of them on any census? Have you looked on freebmd for marriages and births? |
