Find Ancestors

By the by Arthur Lincoln RICHARDSON shows up in Australia electoral roll from 1963 to 1980 in the Australian Captial Territory (ACT). Wife Elizabeth Mary is there too 1963 to 1977. But can't find their deaths in ACT nor burials there :-(

It is POSSIBLE he is still alive...if you go to www.whitepages.com.au and do a residential search (green tab), there is an A L Richardson listed in ACT...never know! :-D

I personally do think that the Colin found is the "right" one but the subject of a previous marriage could be a delicate issue ........

No the only picture I have is one from My husbands grandmother gave us and another a article showing him packing parcels in the war. I haven't seem this other picture!

I am at work at the moment so will get a chance to look through the information above.

Ps I don't think she knew he had been married previously - I may speak to my husband about how to approach this one to ask the question, through his mum first.

Emma, I'd suggest confirming exactly when Colin died. If is WAS 1984 then the issue of a possible previous marriage needs to be tactfully addressed.

But if it was 1995 like your husband thought then we can ignore the records found.

The fact that there are two surnames for Hilary indicate that she had been previously married (or known by another surname).

Hi just home from work... i have checked on the date that Colin died... and my husband is now not as sure as he was before... so could be 1984...so we have ordered his marriage certificate to Gwen which should have his birthday on and ordered the other marriage certificate to Hilary Cooke. I shall let you know when they arrive in the next few weeks. My husband is going to send me the file from his laptop of the marriage certificate we got yesterday online for arthur richardson to see if it can make out his mothers name.

Hi Emma, I doubt very much whether the marriage certificate will have his actual birth date on, they usually just give age at marriage.

BUT, the important thing will be to see what information it says on each one for the father of the groom - that will be the clincher. It will also be interesting to see what it says for his marital status on the one to Gwen.

Fingers crossed they don't take too long to arrive, I got some from GRO within a week.

Well, if he's anything like mine ..........

I've taken to saving images on cloud storage e.g. Google Drive so I can access them anywhere. I used to save them on desktop pc and then found I was away and took the lappy I couldn't get them .

Still trying to find out more about Arthur Osmond Richardson's background.

Emma has kindly sent me a scan of his marriage certificate, as previously mentioned his father was Frederick Richardson - Gent. His mother is listed as Ethel Louisa (UnKnown) - how inconsiderate not to know his other's maiden name to help us.

Arthur's residence at time of marriage was Surrey Hills but usual residence is given as Oxford Chamber, Bourke Street, Melbourne. Birthplace Northampton, England.

The witnesses were Hetty Thomas and James Middlecoat Mundell (found on later ERs as variously a traveller and a manager).

So, when did Arthur Osmond come to Australia?

Emma - Alex would be Alexandrina, I think. It's a female Alex on the list.
