Hello Chris. When did his father die? If it was early might his mother have remarried and the family recorded under her new husband's name?

You say you can't find William in 1841 - have you found his parents?

We know you have the info, Chris, but we don't and we need to start backwards from known data.

I've found the family in 1871 - 1891 but not 1861. Where were they living then?

Thanks for the replies. I do have this information. The problem I have is that I cannot find him in the 1841 or 1851 census. I need to see where he is as I cannot get back any further. I know his Mother was Ann and his Father is Jno and that they lived in Hart Street in 1831 and his father was a shoemaker

I found the baptism records of my ancester William Corbett Hicks born in covent garden and baptised st Pauls his parents are Jno & Ann Hicks living in hart street london, I can't find William in the 1841 (aged 10) and 1851 aged 20)census can anyone help .I have found him on other census records but not these
