Well I do not know what to say. I went to bed last night hoping someone would come up with a little glimmer of hope and this morning I could not believe my eyes, You have blown my mind after years of my trying to trace these people you have opened so many doors for me I can't thank you all enough.YOU ARE GREAT

I have more info on William
He died 1898 in Poplar London

the 1901 census shows:

Thank you so very much Maureen I think all of the information that you wonderful people have given me will keep me quiet for the near future. I have worked hard on finding the Hicks family history and got stuck but hopefully I can now put the pieces of the puzzle together.

What we here do is just what everyone has done ............BUT the first step is to make sure we are looking at the right family so thats why the first set of info was posted

I,m also a Hicks but not of this family but have spent may years chacing my tail with them Good Luck

When I pposted my exquiry yesterday I did not expect such a great reaction from you all. It is the first time I have asked for any help (I did not know the help was there) so was not sure how much detail I should put. I am going to soldier on and cross reference the info I have been given.

Just thought I would update you I have just received the marriage certificate of william hicks and Mary Ann Anthony I am unable yet to find her birth, her fathers name was James Anthony and her was a blacksmith. I have also found another family whick has Hannah,Catherine and William Hicks but the mother is Elizabeth.

Can't find a baptism for Mary Ann with father James but wonder if she could be linked to this family and mother Elizabeth re-married.

The Bland family appear again in 1851 with father now named Nicholas but no Charlotte and Mary present.

There was another child James Bland b 1844. I note that Mary Ann and William used the same names for some of their children.
