Unfortunately they are both recorded as labourers!

you may know -
Burton on Trent is on the Derbys/Staffs border and it's RD covers both counties. Lichfield is 10-12 miles along the A38, the RD's adjoin each other.

There are/were certainly Army Barracks at Lichfield, not necessarily of units mentioned above. However if he was not part of a Battalion he could have been posted anywhere he was needed and be attached to them

Patrick could have come to England for work at any time and ended up in the Burton area. The marriage certificate should give his occupation at time of marriage and occupation of his Father which may help

Sarah....If you check Free BMD you will see there were 7 children born to that couple between 1920 and 1927.

Hello again. Just thinking.... Is it likely that any of the regiments listed on the previous post would have been posted to the Midlands area for some reason? That might explain why Patrick ended up in Staffordshire and married a woman from Derbyshire.

Hi there,
the other daughter was a half-sibling to his other children. Her maiden name and her married name are different. She is the informant on the death certificate.

Hello Sarah, I might be being really dim here but could the other daughter's surname be different because she was married?

Interesting......I've seen the India information before when researching but it's hard to know if it's him without knowing why, and where he came to after leaving the Army - assuming he was in the Army.

Thanks! Never thought of the date being inaccurate......

Hello everyone, I'm looking for some help to fill in the gaps about Patrick Callaghan.
I have a death certificate for him which states the following:

Born 1890 Eire, father named as Thomas callaghan
Died 8/2/1970 at Lichfield hospital
Usual address, Whittington, Staffordshire.
He married Ethel Illsley and they had 5 children

The death certificate names another daughter with a different surname. I'd like to know if he and Ethel divorced? I'm not sure why he came to England or where in Ireland he was from.....Many thanks.
