So 1900 is a long way 'out' for your grandmother's birth.and her name was actually Lily

Hi Clare, for us to work back then we really need to know the names of both your father's parents. I know Hester is allegedly from the maternal side but we need verification to make sure we're following the right people.

If Lilian had a different surname to her mother then it may be because her mother had remarried at some point.

As we've stated above we're having trouble finding an obvious marriage for Lilian.

It was YOUR grandfather whose name I asked for....................ie. your father's father.............Mr Cormack

Hester was my father's grandmother on his mother's side.

Afraid my father has no recollection of his grandfather on his mother's side (ie Hester's husband.)

It is odd that my father's mother - Lilian Chivers, had a different maiden name from her mother, which was supposedly Withy??

I can't see a Chivers/Cormack marriage either, unless it was overseas or Lillian had been previously married.
