He apprentley dived into the Thames near a boat, to retrieve something but was caught in an undertow. This lead to Georges uncontrollable grief and I think he went into a decline and lost his job as foreman" |

If the 1911 stated 10 children born and only 8 still alive then one must have died between 1901 and 1911. (There are the 8 on the 1901 census plus Jessie must have been around somewhere). |

The 1911 census shows that George and Fanny had had 10 children - 2 of whom had died before that census was taken. |
