Good morning and you're welcome Sappo, glad you are pleased! Just hope Susan's death proves to be the right one (looks really likely).

Seems strange to think that you two are in the middle of winter, whilst it's summer here. Although no snow, it's raining!

Hi Susan,

Just had three weeks in W.A. came down to Albany and did the inland route back to Perth.

Lovely, but I do know that you probably did not get the news of us from so far away.

We get all the Aussie news here and I know you would be getting cold temps. Have friends in Kendenup.

Thanks for all your help - you are so positive in your findsing.

Best Wishes,

Sappho

Dear Susan and Flip,

What can I say, but thank you, thank you, thank you so much. You really have done me proud and I am in tears as how do you do it? I have been searching for the family for some time.

Le me fill you in.

I am the daughter of Amy May Povey, daughter of Thomas Charles Povey and Johanna (h) Povey formerly Turner b 1880. She was found with a name mis-spelt in the 1901 Census with her family as shown on the thread. Johanna is the eldest and she was meticulous about paperwork - the first to attend school in the family. I have her original birth certificate, school attendance records, etc.

I started to trace back from her to find her parents and so on. I found the birth in 1860 of Amy Noble and obtained the certificate. Also the marriage certificate - William Turner and Amy Noble 1879. I then ventured to find the siblings of Johanna (my grandmother). I sent for many, many wrong certificates for Thomas birth 1885 then hit correct. Managed to find he married A.M. Kybert and had a son Thomas b 1911 and I finally had the death of Thomas 1939 - if this is correct it has A. M Turner as the informant.

OMG I am going on and on, but look it makes sense why did'nt I think she may have remarried. We just don't do some things.

So once again what a tremendous team. You might notice an earlier thread about William Turner and I have just sent for his death certificate. He was 13 years old.

Better go and prepare for the weekend now it looks like it is still on as weather is better.

Thank you all so much - months and months searching and then with a quick query - you helps are worth a mint! Talk about making someone's evening.

My fondest appreciation of you Susan and Flip.

Take care now,

Sappho

Hi Folks,

Susan if you are in OZ/WA you will know that we have just had a bad storm and down south we have heavy snow.

My daughter's 40th Celebrations to be held this weekend in Akaroa - we have all been waiting for new of the snow as one way into the Akaroa Village and we have to climb Hilltop - famous for its view s and snow covering!!!

Still no news on that, but storm abating and so far no snow in christchurch - fingers crossed we don't get it. Our other daughter and partner fly in from Sydney arrving 12.30 am - flight already delayed 1 hour so that probably saved them as had they come on time, they would have flown into the storm.

Now you all have been busy and I have the pm Flip thank you - need to study but quick glance tells me its right second marriage - thanks. Want to now look at the notes since my last look in pm today.

Back soon. Thanks folks no wonder I could not find her death.

Think that death could be right Susan. She is at the same address until 1932, but not there in 1933.

Flip

Flip Report 20 Jun 2013 06:47

Could be, I've found her and George on the ERs still at 282 Tabard St (Long Lane) in 1919. Then in 1921 Amy is alone, still at same address in 1924 but no George.

That may not be so easy - look at the differences in ages on that census, marriage and her actual dob, wonder if Mr smith actually knew how old she really was?
