Dea..where did it say Mary Kelly was married please?
This is the family I found,but didn't see any marital status.
Mary Ann was a single woman when she had my gran in 1893/4...I thought her mother may have been single too,leaving Ireland when pregnant.
Have been told by family that my gran,Jane Ellen,was fostered out when young...this ties in with the death in Wigan ,12th May.1897,of a Mary Ann Kelly,aged 29.Ince.
Jane Ellen would only have been 3/4 yrs old then.

Pam...now Dea has told me Mary was married,I will look for details,and if I can find them,I'll send for the cert.

Reggie,I can't find them on later censuses.Will keep on looking tho,in case I missed something.

If so, get the marriage cert, to find out whether she knew her father's details

Have you found her on later censuses?

Where do they say she was born?


In 1871, was the mother a married woman?

You can't get parents' details without purchasing the birth cert.

Not a lot! Was hoping Mary Ann could be my gt grandma.
I found a Mary Ann age 2,on the 1871 census,with mother Mary Kelly.(b.Ireland)They were lodging in Wigan with a Catherine Coote and her children..one of whom was b.Ireland.

Just a thought...Kiniry sounds a bit like McHenry?
