Looks like I have hit a brick wall that may never be knocked down

Sadly Fredk, it may well be that the birth wasn't registered what with there being no penalty for not doing so prior to 1874.

Still have not solved Thomas Harvey born (bet1857-1860) birth place and Gro reference. Need this information to get his birth certificate

I now have the marriage certificate for Thomas Harvey and Wilhelmine Alice Cross
on 3/10/1896.Her Age 27 residence Wivenhoe Father Charles James Cross Mariner
His Age 39 Fireman Residence Wivenhoe Father James Harvey (Deceased) Engine Driver.

Do not know if it will help with the place of birth for Thomas that the 1911 census said was Bristol. Notice it makes his birth1857 not 1860 as in the1911 Census

Have found a posibble death fof James 1893 June Qtr Lexden 4a 300 Age 69 which gives a birth date of 1824

Have sent for several Marriage Certificates. Will post again when I recieve and check them.

So I guess you are looking for his parentage, and yes it looks like you have the right parents, but Thomas Snr does not appear to have been born where he says in 1911. He is not with his wife in 1901 so no other census to check details with. Like I said, you may need the marriage cert to see if he gives any better details.

Thomas Harvey b 1897 married May Elizabeth Whittle in 1919. They had five sons James Milban b 1922, Edward Thomas b 1924, Reginald b 1928, Thomas Charles b 1929, Alan Ivan b 1930.he married my wifes sister

Yes, don't think you'll get much further without the marriage cert. Pretty sure Thomas was not born in Bristol, but without his father's name it's difficult to find his origin. That is assuming he knew his father, so the marriage cert may not be of any help.

How have you connected to this family? Are there any other clues in the lineage?

In the Parish records I was given for the birth of Thomas Harvey born 1897 gives Father Thomas Mother Wliheminine

Not sure how you have connected to this family - Thomas not born where stated in 1911 and was not with wife in 1901 for a cross reference. You may need the marriage certificate to get anything further. I'm assuming you already have the reference?

Thanks for the death reference. Wonder why I could not find it. The only thing I had for his birth date was the 1811 Census which says Bristol

No Thomas Harvey birth reg Bristol 1855-65, so maybe he just lived there?

I would assume the census was filled in by Wilhelmina as it states 3 children although 1 obviously born before their marriage and Charles as father, rather than f-i-l.

Now looking for ancestorsand deaths of Thomas Harvey b 1861 in Bristol and Wilhelmine Alice Harvey nee Cross b 1870 Rowhedge Essex.
They were married in 1896 in Wivenhoe Essex. GRO Index 1896 Dec Qtr Lexden 4a 1067 I have not got the marriage certificate,
His birth dates came from the 1911 Census. Her birth date came from the 1881,1901,1911 Cencuses and GRO Index 1870 June Qtr Lexden 4a 325
I have searched GR, Free BMD and Family Search but cannot find anything more.
