As has been pointed out, if she was born in August 1844 she would have been 21 at marriage so would not need consent. She also claims she is only 20. Therefore unlikely to be Emily Elizabeth, unless an extremely forgetful person. |

Think that christening can be ruled out by this marriage, her father a lighterman. |

On the 1851 census her Mother and grandmother were both born in Canterbury Kent. |

Pat, I don't think that is her mother in 1851 - more likely to be her aunt and grandmother. The 1861 census for Mary (this time born Ashford, Kent) states Emily is her niece, not her daughter. I also think the grandchild Ellen Eldridge is on 1, not 11. |

I did not like that 1861 census because the age was out. |

Not sure if this helps, but the 3 children on the 1861 census (shown as sons) are in the Brentwood workhouse in 1871 they are recorded as orphans, and scholars: |

Thanks guys, the 1861 census with her listed as niece I thought we disproved earlier...ill check that...the Mary Ann on it (Head of house) has a different age by quite a bit than the Mary Ann on the 1851 census...Ill go check the earlier posts to refresh my mind |
