On his marriage cert- 21st Oct 1866 to Winnifred, Charles Palmer lists his father as Benjamin Palmer, Labourer. So the above 1851 census is correct.

(Winnifred's father was Robert Rycroft, Carpenter)

There is an 1841 census for this family- but extremely faded.

If you obtain the marriage cert, you'll find out if he knew his father's details.................those would help your search

Have found Charles Palmer ( born 1841 in Fareham Hampshire) in the 1881 1891 1901Censuses on GR.. I cannot find him in the 1851 1861 1871.He married Winifred Rycroft (born 1841 Husington Northamptonshire) in Dec 1866 St Geo Hanover Square . I need to know where he was around those dates
