This may be Thomas H. He was a shoe blacker. EDIT just re-read thread. See this has already been posted. One of many boys who graduated from the Ragged Schools and were employed on the streets of London polishing shoes. All very organised and they had their own uniforms etc. Maybe George was in one of the Ragged Schools at the time. That Pawnbroker one still looks good. I think the age is a mistranscribe on Ancestry. Looks more like aged 16 to me. |

Martyn... I never gave that a thought...I think I would like to settle for Christiana's "rank outsider" ( see 4 posts above)...otherwise I'll be searching for months and my husband will divorce me lol.... However, if any one of you have access to Ancestry, I would love to know who the rest of the Wilson Family householders were, and, there actual residence if possible? |

Hi Christina, he got married in Barnstaple, Devon in 1899....to Catherine Yeo..they had a child 5 years before the marriage in 1894, which I suppose could place him in that area around 1893?...although his older brother is a boarder in Islington in 1891...George turns back up in Hackney with his wife and children in 1901, and 1911 in Maitland Park St Pancras, London...Hid Mother was living as a housekeeper for her brother in law in Hackney 1891, so she was helping him bring up his children...I just cant see her putting her only child left in a home ( she lost 3 of her other children..early deaths)......The assistant pawn broker is interesting |

There's an Alice Hall b.1875 living in Stoke Newington, Hackney as a domestic servant. She's down as being born in Kentish Town, which is right next door to St.Pancras. |
