He is not necessarily referring to his Father but to his step-father as being deceased in 1911.
Added: And/or Annie has told him that his Father is dead, otherwise how could she marry Mr Partridge.

as i believe from 1891 England Census Albert Course Age: 34 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1857 Relation: Head Married Gender: Male Where born: Cambridgeshire, England correct Civil parish: Chadwell St Mary Ecclesiastical parish: Chadwell St Mary County/Island: Essex Country: England Registration district: Orsett Sub-registration district: Orsett correct
Albert Course 34 ------ggfather
Ernest Course 14------son George Course 11------son
harry partridge who died in 1974 bournemouth father Herniman? (possibly~~) if mr Herniman is in the loop, he i believe commited suicide in the river Lee
however Anne aged 2 in 1881 census and william p born 1886 and his step brother harry partridge seemed to have stayed together.
i also just put that Alfred died in 1955 and was listed as deceased in 1911. this information is from the marriage cert of my grandfather william p course in brighton (why is this??)
all very intriguing

If married 34 years, then married in 1876 to 1877, which could be bad arithmetic for her first marriage in Cambridge.

So William Percy G Course (1886) stays in London with his Mother Annie, so needs finding in 1891. Annie marriages Mr Partridge? As Harry Partridge is born in 1878, he is not a son of Annie but of Mr Partridge and a previous wife?
Annie's first wedding: Marriages Sep 1875 COURSE Albert Cambridge 3b 835 TURNER Anne Cambridge 3b 835
so does Annie then marry Mr Herniman and then Mr Partridge (1897)?

If George Dixon is the eldest son of Alfred, then Alfred is Alfred Dixon? But you put that William Course's father was Alfred, so he is Alfred Course?
You have also just put that Alfred died in 1955 and was deceased in 1911.
Added: Is this Alfred Dixon's death: Alfred Dixon Birth Date: abt 1883 Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1955 Age at Death: 72 Registration district: East Ham Inferred County: Essex Volume: 5a Page: 29 Added: The above is wrong as it is Alfred Course not Alfred Dixon who dies in 1955
You have put 'the marriage of my grandfather william p in brighton' in 1911.
I can see no marriage of William Partridge in 1911 in Brighton.
Added: Your grandfather is William Course. Births Jun 1886 COURSE William Percy G Islington 1b 351 Marriages Dec 1911 Course William P G Brighton 2b 445
OK, so this links some of them: Births Jun 1881 COURSE George Dixon Islington 1b 237

Graham, I am sorry but I find your information very confusing.
You have so many bits and pieces and 'leads'.
I quote: 'Harry's Partridges half-brother was William Course and were quite close , William's father Alfred at some time moved to Essex, with his elder brother George Dixon'
If Harry's half-brother was William Course, then William's father is Alfred Course. So who is George Dixon? Can we have some dates and places attached.
Thank-you

Graham, if his mother was remarried then surely her name wouldn't be Partridge anymore?
Who was the stepbrother?
How have you connected to Harry?
