Wow. Where did you find the image? Are you able to share it with me? It's definitely a possibility as I cannot find another Matthew cutting in 1841 near Grimstone around that date and yet the later censuses are pretty consistent that this is when and where he was born. Thank you so much for your interest and help. Any ideas where he is in 1851? |

More help needed please. I know Matthew Cutting was born about 1839 in Grimstone Norfolk according to the 1861 and 1871 census but I can find no record in the bmd or 1841 or 1851 and he should be there. Can anyone find him? Thanks for your help. |

Matthew Tennant Cutting definitely looks like Matthew Cutting Snr and Jemima's son. It's odd that Matthew T Cutting appears on the 1871 census (see first post). Maybe they named a son with the same name as a child who died earlier. Still no luck finding the death of Matthew Cutting Snr though. |

well, the father's name on that marriage is the same as the one posted earlier for the marriage to Matthew ......... so it does look like the same person! |

Any clues on looking for a bootmaker who lived in Woodhouse Lane, Leeds in 1882 called Matthew Cutting? |

Thanks George for the kind offer but I found the original on line. I think that is the Matthew Cutting I'm after. It's odd that I cannot find him anywhere on the 1881 England census or his death or burial. |

I realise I'm answering my own question here but for completeness I think this is Matthew Cutting marrying in Leeds in 1882 as they are both boot makers. Still I can't find him on the 1881 census or afterwards. |

A widower Matthew Cutting marries Martha Fielding in 1882 but it is in Leeds. Seems unlikely but maybe?? |

This is great. I think you are on the money. It looks like the siblings went to live with their sister Mary Jane and this would fit with Jemima dying in Caistor as suggested above. I wonder what happened to their father Matthew? Thanks again. |
