Judith

As Anne posted this query back in 2012 it may well be that she is not expecting recent replies.

Click on her name and send her a personal message as this will ensure she receives your message. However if she has changed her email address and not informed GR then sadly your message will not get through.

Fingers crossed for you.

This is a VERY late reply but I have John Butler b1709 marrying Mary Estep 1735 Billingsley on my Family Tree. If my research Is correct I'm descended from their son William Butler b 1738 My father had the idea that the Butlers came from Ireland but I haven't found any evidence to support that.

Anne, all I did was look on Familysearch. There is nothing else re. Mary Estep, but a few references to Mary Estop//Estopp/Easthope etc etc in Shropshire.
You might as well have a rummage around yourself really! Much more fun.
Haven't seen anything to indicate an Irish connection.

Thank you for that info. It is really helpful. Anymore info regarding his mother Mary Estep would also be helpful.

I am tracing a very close friends family tree for her. Her 5 x great grandfather was a John Butler born in 1736 in Billingsley, Shropshire and he married a Mary Easthorpe. We know his father was a also a John Butler born about 1709 but we have become stuck. She knows the family originally came over from Ireland but has no idea when and we are wondering if it was John Butler (1709) that brought the family over.

Can anyone tell me where or how I cann find out any more information.
