Thanks Catherine, Mike I don't have Ancestry but its free in my local library. How do I get to the photos on the ancestry site, I will be able to go in tomorrow. I'd be really keen to see them. Is he on someone's tree?

Yes, I have her birth and her marriage to Byers Race, I just can't find her on the 1841 census. Got most of her family.

Looks as though she didn't marry until 1844, so should still be under Appleby:-
