Notes
¦ludolph Christian was a merchant and the Prussian Consul in Cadiz. Ludolf Christian's mother writes in her account (the Stegmann Account, very loosely translated): Born 19 November 1776 in Bremen. He Gredel (sic)(who is so far not identified) and Andreas contracted smallpox. On 15 April he began religious instruction under Pastor Vogt. In May 1790 masserte er (Note by John Campbell Uhthoff: I cannot translate "masserte er"). He was confirmed on 3 March 1792. On 28 November 1792 he travelled with his uncle G.C. Uhthoff (this would be Georg Konrad Uhthoff) through Paris to Nantes, arriving there on 1 January 1793. He came back, God be thanked, during the most unsettled times, by ship through Hamburg the same year on 12 December. On 27 August 1795 he left here to ship with Captain Leumann to Cadiz - he sailed on 1 September at 12 o'clock noon and arrived on 8 October (1795) in good health and without having become seasick. For two years he (Ludolph?) had served the enterprise of Messrs Siling, Uhthoff, Linau & Company and had made himself so well liked that on the death of G.C. Uhthoff the partners made our son a fourth partner. In August 1800 our son had the epidemic sickness (smallpox, I assume). He had this murderous fever for seven days. He is, thank God, completely restored to health. This epidemic began in August and ended in November. On the 12th they held thanksgiving with a procession and the singing of a Tedeum. More than 10,000 people died in Cadiz alone.

How have you arrived at the Thresher family?
The baptism of Herbert was on the same day as Violet's. but what else makes them relevant?

Unfortunately I agree with MarieCeleste.
So I am confused.
This is Violet's birth, surely, so you can get her Mother's maiden name??

However, there is a baptism for Horace Thresher and a birth register for Horace Thrasher but no death for Horace Thresher/Thrasher and no baptism or birth record for Horace Courtenay and a death for Horace Courtenay in 1959. There is an old family rumour that Horace Courtenay is the illegitimate son of an Earl - are Horace Thrasher/Thresher and Horace Courtenay the same baby?
