I don't think that's him. There is a John Baxter aged 80 in Forncett St. Peter in the 1851 census. I haven't been able to find John on the 1841 census. And apart from her baptism and marriage I haven't found Mildred on any census nor her death details.

Thanks for the reply Ann.
Well, his name was John Baxter. He got married in Bircham Newton, Norfolk on November 6th 1803 to Mildred Rayner (or Rainer). He died on September 11th, 1843 in Bircham Newton and his age was given as 71. That's all I know about him. Although I do have the details of their kids but I don't suppose that's helpful.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Barry - care to give us details and we'll see if we can find something for you
The settlement certificates are on the national archives for the village from which they were moved

Hello,
I have an ancestor who got married in a small village in Norfolk in 1803. He moved to the area from another parish but I don't know which one. His marriage record on the parish register says "of this parish" but you only have to be resident in the parish for a few weeks for that to be true. He died in 1843 so before the 1851 census which would've shown where he was born.
Does anyone have any ideas about how I can find out his parish of birth? Are there any records at Norwich records office which would help?
I know settlement was important back then so he may have had a settlement certificate or been subject to a settlement examination in his new parish. Are those records stored anywhere?
I'm talking in general terms here so I don't think any specifics about him would be needed.
Thanks.
