thankyou everyone for your input. I am attempting to contact Jesie to see if she is Ada's daughter and if so if she has further information. I am also applying for for the marriage certificate as suggested by most of you. ....thankyou...it has spurred me on to continue my search |

Lots of people die in Camberwell because that's where King's College Hospital is. |

Yes Jude, I agree. I think the original assumption for birth is wrong but we've missed picking up on the fact that it came from the 1901 census with nothing to back it up. |

Flip - it was the way I was leaning to....the child in 1901 HAS to be Annie Ellen ..there is an Ada born in 1896 but that was in Lewes. |

After re-reading your posts have just realised, you based the year of birth for Ada on the 1901 census you found - so we have no way of knowing if this is correct. She could have been born much later and not be on any census. |

No Penny I agree with you that Ada and Annie Ellen are not one and the same person. But I am convinced that the family is the correct one. So where was Annie Ellen in 1901 and where is Ada in 1911. Quite simply there is not the option as far as I can tell that we have two separate families....it would be an enormous coincidence for there to be two James W born in Bow and two Alices born in Ireland to be two separate couples. Add to that they each had a son James born in 1890 :-S |

If you're ordering the marriage cert it may be worth getting the 1942 birth as well, your father may have a half brother as well as the sister you already know about. |

Leonard ( my dad) was and always has been Weaver. He was born before Ada met Joseph. my dad was in children's homes most of his life as both of them moved around a lot as times were tough. they lived in a lot of different places but usually around london. I am going to request a copy of their marriage certificate but will take a while as has to come to Australia. I agree that the census are a bit confusing as I am fairly sure that my Ada is not Annie. She....as far as I know has never been known as anything but Ada. thanks so much everyone :-) |
