It is definitely Cyrill.

Hiya, thank you for that. They did marry in a catholic church, the Church of Our Lady Immaculate in Paddington although I have looked for this church and cannot find it. Am sending the marriage cert to you by way of PM, hope you don't mind as I would like your opinion on the father's name, that is Hugo's father I mean. The writing is not very good so hope you can decipher it. I had to enlarge the image to be able to see it properly once saved in my computer. I will be checking for messages before I go to bed later but am back at work tomorrow so won't be checking for any more messages until tomorrow evening. I do not think the Canada one is yours.

I found her on the canadian census and details do not match.

I have looked at the passenger list.

We have no way of knowing if she got to Soain, stayed in Spain or moved on.

Just giving my observations from what we do know.

I have checked railway records for Cyril and nothing.

I would next look at other Fleischmans in Paddington for clues.

Am sending off for the birth certificate of the daughter to see if that might throw up any more clues, a long shot I know but it doesn't help really for the Spanish side of things.

Just a few observations.

The ship Highland Piper was mainly a cargo ship for meat from my reading of it.

It was war time so a possibility they left but did not arrive.

The passenger list says they were subject Bohemia. For Mum it may be by marriage. The name could be Jewish and many Jews changed there name in wartime.
It could be Anglicised to flashman for instance. I think it could be derived from butcher?
The passenger list is actually mainly crew.

Not answers but food for thought.

Hi Kathryn, I have worldwide but unfortunately Ancestry does not have any relevant Spanish records.

Hi again, do you have worldwide subs? If so would you please be able to see if you can find anything for Adele in Spain. She was destined for Vigo in 1916 with her daughter. I do have a copy of the passenger list if you require but would probably have to PM it to you but not sure if there is a facility to attach a document. I am determined to try and get to the bottom of this mystery of my great grand aunt and her daughter and also that of her husband Hugo who wasn't on the passenger list with her.

Hi LadyKira, not sure if this is the same family, this quest is a real mystery. I am just hoping someone can get to the bottom of this couple so to speak. I have just been trying to find Hugo again. Am still trying to submit this post on Ancestry as well to see if anyone has worldwide subs and could look at this death for an Adele Fleishmann in Washington in 1946.

Hi all, I now have an update on my original posting. Not sure if anyone can see this or will pick it up, perhaps I have to start a new thread, but here goes.

I now have the marriage certificate for Hugo and Adele.

Hugo Josef Fleischmann age give as 26, bachelor, mechanical engineer, residence at time of marriage 17 Elgin Avenue, London. Father Cyrll, not sure if it should be Cyril, Fleischmann, railway station master. Hugo marries Adele on 3 January 1915 at the Church of Our Lady Immaculate, Paddington London.

Adele Noel, aged 20 years, spinster, address 21 Grittleton Road, London, I have her father etc and know all about him.

Now, as we know Adele has a daughter in 1916, name given as Adele Anna Fleischmann. Adele leaves England with daughter, name given on passenger list as Anna Fleischmann, 6 months old destined for Vigo, Spain. I can still find nothing on Hugo. As above, I have the marriage cert so if anyone wants to take a look at it please let me know and I can attach it I think to a PM. I would like to know what people think about Hugo's father's name though.

Now, I have tried to search the Electoral Rolls for between 1911 and 1915 for Hugo and his father but haven't found anything, perhaps another pair of eyes or more would be good please. On my tree in Ancestry, Historical Records come up for Adele Hubertine. There are a couple of hints for an Adele Fleischmann in Washington, deaths in 1946 but obviously without worldwide subs I cannot get into these records. Can anyone help with this one please? As you know I have nothing further on Adele and her daughter once they leave England for Spain. I am at the moment trying to post this message on Ancestry but the message board facility is playing up. Sorry if this message is long winded.
